Rebus feature on national Vodafone television and cinema campaign.

The Rebus song "Work Song" has been chosen as a featured track for the new Vodafone 3G promotional campaign. A clip of the song will be heard by millions on the new television and cinema advert. Additionally the song will be available for download to all Vodafone 3G customers in the UK. A second advert will be made using more of the band's music.

"Work Song" features on the band's debut single "Daylight Fading" which can be bought from Reading based record label SugarRush. It is yet another high point in a year which has seen the band play many high profile shows including headlining festival appearances. The band are attracting attention from lots of sources, with their single picking up radio play nationally from Steve Lamacq on the BBC, John Kennedy on XFM and locally too with the track a firm favourite in many of Readings alternative nightclubs.

With a slot at the Reading University Summer Ball and more headline London shows, including a showcase of Readings high profile bands and a second single to be out in the Autumn, Rebus continue to go from strength to strength.

Press Quotes:
"Watch Rebus watch them go! Watch them get embraced by the nation. Dance, damn you! Anyone who thinks they are too cool to disco is wrong, and Rebus will laugh at you for being sad." Josaka.com

"Daylight Fading, a throbbing blast of disco-cum-garage-punk that magically attaches strings to your feet and makes them dance. Lashings of guitar fly in the face of infectious synth bleeps and a funky bopping bass." BBC

"Local Legends, the best looking local band by miles" Velocity Recordings.

I used to like Rebus before they sold out.

04-06-2005, 17:06:30
We've paid for our next release and quite a few rehearsals by having a second of music on an advert. I'd rather sell out than keep paying for shit.

05-06-2005, 01:06:30
It was a joke. Good work etc...

Pretty cool guys

Good news

(even though they sponsor Man U)

06-06-2005, 10:22:17
Good news, when will it be happening?

06-06-2005, 10:45:09
First showing today apparently. Don't get excited though. It's only two seconds of music. :p

It's something for us to exploit for promotions etc. We've already got a support slot for Brendon Benson off the back of it and a few enquiries.

06-06-2005, 10:45:54
Yeah, I'd have thought the exposure was much more important than the money etc.

Who's Brendon Benson? :o

06-06-2005, 11:00:26
Detroit based singer-songwriter. Friend of Jack White. I have a BB album.

06-06-2005, 11:02:27
I thought that and then visited the website and realised I'd seen the logo and heard the music on radio one. Apparently they/he have/has been touring with Beck.

06-06-2005, 11:04:57
Oh. According to the website, he's not a singer-songwriter, despite singing and writing songs. How foolish of me to make such an assumption :o

06-06-2005, 11:09:09
Sounds good anyway. and  @ Novacane.

 What a weird thing to put on your site.

Alfred Smith paint and decoration company - he's not a painter decorator but he decorates and paints.

I think it's because the phrase "singer-songwriter" conjours up images of people like Stedman rather than people like Ryan Adams or Jeff Buckley.

06-06-2005, 11:14:47
Clearly a guy who doesn't want to be pigeon-holed.

Get in your pigeon-hole Brendan.

06-06-2005, 11:18:19

(At university pigeon hole became a euphamism for bumhole.)

Funny you should mention Stedman Mike, for he is also supporting Brendan Benson.

06-06-2005, 12:18:19
I honestly didn't know that.

06-06-2005, 12:29:09
Is he? I thought we were the only support.

Might have to cancel that one. Steadman? Ugh.

06-06-2005, 12:33:36
Apparently we're the only support at the fez and it's sold out. Luckily Steadman is supporting him/them in Aldershot.

06-06-2005, 12:34:42
Yeah, Sequoia are supporting him in Aldershot on the 4th of June.

[EDIT: Damn your nimble fingers (and ability to spell Sequoia without looking it up)]

06-06-2005, 12:35:33
Debaser didn't say where Stedman was supporting him. :)

06-06-2005, 12:40:06
The Fez isn't sold out, wegottickets have 60 left for a start.

06-06-2005, 12:42:32
I was told that it's definately going to be sold out. Not that it matters. They aren't buying tickets to see Rebus.

06-06-2005, 13:03:16
Ah right. That's fair enough.

I would have been very impressed if he'd sold the place out so far in advance which was why I checked. Fez normally sells out much closer to the time.

06-06-2005, 13:04:15
(and if I go it'd be to see Rebus)

29-06-2005, 11:11:39
Looks like it might be a full house on Friday - sold out or not.

A guy at work went to see BB at the Zodiac last night and he tells me the fire alarm went off after 6 songs after the roof began leaking onto electrical equipment.

They were offered free entry for Friday's gig at the Fez as compensation. Still, its a bit unpredictable as to just how many people would actually take up that offer.

29-06-2005, 11:37:20
Wow! That's awful and great.

29-06-2005, 15:25:05
So the name of Protein's band is Rebus? Can you buy the CD in the US?

29-06-2005, 15:29:57
I'm sure the nice people at their record company can send you a copy if you order it through them...
