My boss is ignoring me... either he is about to fire me or lay me off, or he knows I am looking for another job.

I said good morning to him, and he snubbed me. He hasn't spoken to me yet today, and the company has been sending out notices on seminars for handling your personal finances, not to mention that production has dropped significantly due to lack of demand and the opening of alternate (better) manufacturing sites...

I'm getting a $30k loan to improve my house to sell...

Wife is 6 months pregnant, and turned in her "i quit" notice last week, and is done at the end of June...

Scary times...

but fun!:bounce:

he's got me jumping through hoops right now... rushing me on worthless reports, and making everything a priority

I think he's scared

I could really careless if I get laid off, but I don't want to get fired

I design processes in an FDA regulated environment

So, what I do is; define what manufacturing needs, develop a way to get it done, order/install/validate equipment, perform/validate process on equipment, develop/write procedures for the process, train employees how to perform process...

A lot of reports, since anytime you see "validate", "write", or "develop" I have to document it... Protocols, memos, and qualification documents can get long and boring. Can generally wip them out pretty fast. These are not worthless, so much, but just aren't urgent in the sense he is making them.

it's coming to a head now

he told me to go see a psychologist, because I asked him why he was making all these things urgent and has started making outragous claims and demands... he is acting stranger by the day

and now

he's not even talking to me!

Neither do I. I'm not too worried, though. There are generally plenty of summer TAships.

They pay 3700$ per course, and there were enough last year that a couple of my friends did 3 in two months (each lasts a month) last summer.

I should find out for certain in the next week or so.

I had TAs the last two summers

but people, especially third years, aren't assured of it

(we get similiar ammount per course... and if there were not enough students you could do two a summer, but there is generally barely enough TAs (and things are short this year))

I was talking to our planner who is also one of my references.

Anyway, his last day is a week from Friday, he found another job with a company up the road. Once he is gone, there is no left who can do his job, which is critical. He tells me sales have dropped of our product, and if the powers that be keep it around it would be a miracle. Also, he tells me that our VP is looking for a new job, and our Director has been offered a new job as well (this I knew, but I wasn't sure if he took it). Also, my boss has been working more on a new product.

It appears more and more that I am about to get laid off. I am stressed out, and would appreciate it happening sooner than later, especially now that I have interview in Minnesota next Thursday.

Is it okay to ask to be laid off?
