View Full Version : What alcohol do you have in your house/flat/cardboard shelter?

21-04-2005, 01:12:19
Man I feel depressed after the wine rack thread and the sudden realisation that I have no wine or beer in the house...:(

I do have some shit Marie Brizzard orange liquer we won in a quiz though...

Oh and some pretty heavy spirits:

Brennivin AKA "Black Death" Icelandic Schnapps - Very potent! Almost full

Slivovitz - Czech plum brandy thing:eek:

And a small amount of Bombay Sapphire that I'm keeping for a rainy day...

So, what's in your drinks cabinet/brown paper bag?

21-04-2005, 01:17:39
Nix. Not a drop.

Can't say I miss it right now.

21-04-2005, 01:19:17
some Paul Langier brut chmpagne.

21-04-2005, 01:19:27
Too late, its gone. :(

Eight cans of Natural Lite and a liter of Bacardi 151.

I'm fucked if I know how the ouzo came to be here!! I think it was in return for DH fixing something for someone. They pay him in alcohol even though he doesnt drink

21-04-2005, 01:31:19
1 bottle of cider (no idea where it came from)

750 ml of Maker's mark
750 ml of Stolichnaya

21-04-2005, 01:31:54
I should start making a habit of keeping beer in the house. Then again, maybe not.

I'm trying to make a habit of keeping hard liquor in the pantry. Fewer calories than beer.

21-04-2005, 01:33:56
I feel weird just starting to drink hard liquor by myself.

I'm cool with having a few beers though.

A bottle of Ribena and a can of Coke in the fridge :D

Hmm, 1/2 a cse of woodstock  bourbon and cola cans. There's the better part of a case of beer in the beer fridge too. Hmm, what else? There's some Jim Beam bourbon white and black label in my cupboard too. Oh, and a bottle of Wild Turkey (bourbon also). Some special blend, never got around to drinking it.

21-04-2005, 01:49:00
Too much. I realised carting it back to uni that having 3 full boxes and two smaller boxes of alcohol may be a bit much. I came back with 5 bottles from Salzburg - Mozart and some interesting Schnapps and Schnapps liqueurs, and my usual Hoegaarden, Leffe, wine and most normal spirits. Plus Midori and a few other randoms.

I could do with some Galliano, probably a few other things that might come in handy - Kahlua, Raspberry vodka and some more fruit liqueurs come to mind, but I'm pretty well stocked :)

I dumped out all my alcohol. I felt I was turning into an alocholic.

But when I did keep alcohol, I usually had vodka. And I admit I also liked peach schnapps. :o. And Samual Adams was my beer of choice. No wine for me- wine tastes like crap.

21-04-2005, 03:51:59
Hmm, off the top of my head.

Bottle of Silver spiced rum
Sloe Gin
Creme de menthe
A creme and honey thing
litchi flavored drink
Triple sec
Generic whiskey
couple bottles of wine.

Bacardi, Captain Morgans, Jack, Goldschlager,Smirnoff, Jose Cuervo, Seagrams V.O., Amaretto(Amarito), Carlo Rossi Paisano, Daiquri mixes and Pina Colada Mixes and Margarita mixes.

And I don't drink except occasionally. :)

21-04-2005, 08:34:11
More spirits and liqueurs than I care to mention, because it never gets drunk. (Well almost never.)

Stopped being fussed about "duty free" booze a long time ago because of it. (Never seemed that much cheaper anyway.)

21-04-2005, 09:01:25
2l JD, beer, wine, pastis, sambuca, Amaretto and a nice single malt.

21-04-2005, 09:25:38
You could have asked me yesterday...

2 1/2 bottles of assorted red wine
a bottle of cheap fizzy stuff that someone left here
1 litre + 2 cans of strongbow
6 (ish) bottles of calsberg export
1 can Orangeboom
various assorted spirits with random amounts in them

Hey, Marie Brizard licqeurs are great!

As I wouldn't be supposed to drink alcohol (don't tell my doctor!), I actually keep none at home (well, my mother has lotsa old wines in the cellar, not upstairs, and I still have few of the beers I frought back from Gand).
Or rather, there must till be a dozen bottles hidden in a cupboard, the ones my dad used to bring back from his work trip aound the world>30yrs ago! All of them with barely an inch evaporated liquid in the bottom...
There are also 1 bottle JD and 1 Havana Club 7, only residual traces left in them, which I had bought myself 10 yrs ago :cute:
Dad's bottles should be saké, slivoviç, framboise, soem unheard of tequiola, a port, a cognac, IIRC a sherry too, a Mampe Boonekamp (what was that???), and a few more disgustin ones I can't even remember.
Ah, I also cared to never miss a bottle Tanqueray gin, but I think I finished my last 3 years ago now without restocking it...

21-04-2005, 10:05:54
The fizzy stuff was the rest of Glowworm settling her bet, therefore it's mine :)

In my flat:

approx 10 bottles of red wine
4 bottles of white (chardonnay, urgh)
unspecified number of bottles of Smirnoff Ice
about 6 bottles of cider
roughly 6 cans of Fosters
One and a half bottles of Baileys
Bottle of Thorntons toffee liquer
and random Czech stuff I can't remember the name of

21-04-2005, 10:09:05

21-04-2005, 10:11:12
That's the one.
Still haven't tried it myself :)

In the fridge there's a can of revolting gooseberry-flavoured "cider" soemeone decided to leave behind at a party recently, two bottles of the cheapest, nastiest lager you can imagine left over from the same party, and rather surprisingly a bottle of Czech Budweiser, which saves the fridge from total embarassment. (I bought that for one of my girlfriend's friends for the same party as the others. Her instructions were along the lines of "four beers" and apparently she's got no taste. Though she did drink the other bottle, the Singha and the Leffe.)

From the same party (see a pattern here? This was months ago) we've got a bottle of spanish wine of uncertain origin sporting the rather fetching iconic image of a moose.

21-04-2005, 10:50:53
Me and my friends used to make amazing cocktails from their parents' drinks cabinets. The trick was to take such a small amount of everything that they wouldn't notice. Preferably during our lunch break.

Tiny dash of gin, teeny drop of vodka, half a can of bitter, glob of advocat, drizzle of triple sec, glug of cherry brandy...

21-04-2005, 10:52:01
Singha and Leffe are my two favorite Friday night beers.

I love leffe but I find it a very 'small doses' beer.

Currently loving the number of places that have Staropramen on tap in town.

And new proper Heineken.

Some decent lagers at last.

21-04-2005, 10:57:11
Leffe tripple, wooohooooo

21-04-2005, 10:57:54
Also great that most Wetherspoons have Leffe on tap now.

18 bottles of wine, mostly reds... French, Chilean, Italian, Aussie, Californian
the whites...Californian and NZ
2 bottles of beer - Wernesgrüner

1 small bottle of vodka -Stoli
1 big bottle of 12 yr old George Dickel
1 Crown Royal
1 Tequila.. Cabo Wabo (still unopened after 5 years)
Grand Marnier

Except for the wine and the beer...most of this stuff hangs around for years and years

usually a couple of Shiraz's...mass market like Rosemount, Penfolds, Banrock Station. Nothing fancy, just good wine for not a lot of money. Rosemount even has a good cheap pinot noir...a rare rare thing to find.

21-04-2005, 13:03:44
Yeah, most of those are quite nice for regular consumption.

If you want a nice white (probably red too, haven't tried one), look for Cloudy Bay. It's a Kiwi company, and they export (somewhat, no idea how much) to the states.

I have a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc

Yes, I know that. I was trying to give you some general advice. :p

21-04-2005, 14:03:24
In the room with me I have...

A selection of small cans of Belgium lager. All highly obscure, not able to be bought in England or so I am told.

A litre of vodka

Half a bottle of Bells Whiskey.

4 cans of Carling.

None of them are mine sadly....but I can pick up the alcohol through the air, I'm sure.

21-04-2005, 16:51:55

You want something else, bring it yourself. In fact, if you want wine, you better bring that, too.

21-04-2005, 17:07:39
Tequila, Bailey's, and Grand Mariner

I drank the last of the Warsteiner Dunkel last week.
