Borrowed the album off a cowie. Back in that 'bands of 2005' feature thread i was worried that these lot were going to be a shit Supergrass, but actually it turns out they are the reincarnation of Menswear.

Well at least Oh my God and (in particular, the self-fulflling prophecy of) I predict a Riot are great singles.

A couple of the others are alright as well, couple of Vines-y tracks (yeah they're like supergrass too i know).

Really? That's a shame, I really like I Predict a Riot.

Heard their new single this morning. Its OK. Didn't turn it off. Nothing more though.

"Everyday I Love You Less and Less" (Thats it... had to look it up)

Bit hit and miss then eh? ;)

If it sounds like Menswear it will be all miss surely?

King_Ghidra

yeah i guess i didn't mean that to sound quite as bad as it probably does

I'll keep my ears open then.

I think i quite liked Daydreamer (?) for a while when it came out. Haven't heard that in ages though and don't think I can actually name any other menswear tunes. What an awful name for a band as well.

One of Menswear is Bloc Party's manager apparently.

Small, musical world

I thought Being Brave was quite a good song.

I'm not really a fan of the Kaiser Chiefs, but I Predict A Riot was ok I suppose.

I really liked I Predict a Riot, thought Oh My God was pretty good and heard the whole album on the way up to Bristol in Chris' car... I'd like to hear it again. It was more interesting than I thought it would be but I'm not sure that if I bought it I'd ever actually listen to it.

Then again, when I bought the EMF abum from FOPP I thought I'd only listen to Unbelievable but it's actually really good.

i predict a riot is definitely my single of the year so far, at least based on the proper get messy in the after dark criteria

Bah. I seem to be on this schedule where every alternative night I'm in London. :bash:

Debaser

Surely Oh My God has better "get messy" potential what with all that Red Stripe flying around...

I think i agree on those terms.

So you're saying its maybe this years "Take Me Out"?

i.e not your favourite song in the world but one which you most like strutting to like a horny stag on stage at the Afterdark?

Funko

Wouldn't "Take Me Out" be the song that makes you take the opportunity to leave the stage and go to the bar.

There's been entirely too little after dark action for me recently.

Yeah it would now I think. But wind back a year and it was good fun when that came on in the AD.

I don't think I've ever listened to Take Me Out through my own choice, and I'm not a FF fan. But, right place, right time can make some songs sound a whole lot better than they actually are.

Plug In Baby is still the daddy at the AD.

Yeah good call. That got me up last time I was there. Its not a consistent performer though is it?

I have an active dislike of FF so the fact that everyone went to dance to that meant that me avoiding it got me to an empty bar. :D

On second listening....

The new Kaiser Chiefs song "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" has something of the "this Town Ain't Big Enough" by Sparks about it. No bad thing. I think I quite like it actually.

'This Town Ain't Big Enough' used to scare me a bit when I was little. It's a bit weird... I might download it now actually.

if the song didn't scare you, Sparks certainly should have, fuckin a

What I've heard of them (Kaiser Chiefs) is alright, nothing that has really moved me that much though...
