They'd better have proper wrestler names and themed special moves.

Will they do it properly and allow the ref to be distracted whilst James Hewitt sneaks into the ring with a steel chair?

Wow - I thought I'd dreamed this programme (not in an Alan Partridge wanking over Jet way though). Glad (?) to know I wasnt going mad then.

When does it start?

On Saturday apparently. It is crazy. I still haven't gotten over how surreal it seems.

ITV1 of course, home of the "celebrity" show.

There's bugger all info there though at the moment.

Found a bit more info:

Celebrities will get to grips with each other in the ring for a new wrestling show on ITV.

Celebrity Wrestling will see twelve stars competing to become King and Queen of the ring. In the main, celebrities tend to lack vital wrestling skills and so they will receive training from American professionals.

The male celebrities who have signed up to compete for the title of King of the ring are: James Hewitt, ex-EastEnders actor Marc Bannerman (Gianni DI Marco), athlete Iwan Thomas, show jumper Oliver Skeete, Jeff Brazier (Jade Goody's ex) and children's TV presenter Mark Speight.

They will be joined by the potential Queens: Big Brother winner Kate Lawler, presenter Jenny Powell, tennis player Annabel Croft, page three model Leilani Dowding and model Victoria Silvstedt.

The show will be presented by Kate Thornton and WWF's Rowdy Roddy Piper, and will feature bouts in the ring, the steel cage and a podium.

An ITV spokesman said: "This is wrestling as it's never been seen before with the celebrities being taught real skills to win real bouts.

"The celebrities are not just competing for fun. There are points and pride at stake and ultimately there can be only one King and Queen of the ring."

It shows how into celebs I am. Have heard of 1 of the male celebs, and 2 of the female, as far as I can recall.

I've heard of Rowdy Roddy Piper. Minor celebs, if you only hear of them in their own country (and not even that, eh, Gary? :D)

To really get yourself in the mood, watch Neighbours. They have gone nuts over wrestling at the moment! Yes, Neighbours, the Australian soap.

I took my kids to the filming of the final. The celebs don't actually wrestle, it's more of a "Gladiators" type show although the two Pro wrestlers do have a "Fight" on the last show.
I have to say that Kate Lawler looks great in tight Lycra.
