It seems everyone was told to shake hands with everyone. Iran with Israel. Israel with Syria. America with everyone etc.

If someone leans over to greet me I find it natural to accept to shake his hand. That's quite an automatic gesture.

That said Mugabe shouldn't have been there in the first place, imo.

But I'm simply not condemning Charles for a simple handshaking at the Pope's funeral. You're there to mourn the loss of a man not to create unnecessary politic tensions. There are enough as it is, is it that difficult to imagine a few hours in which we can simply get all along?

I'm pretty sure the political position of England about the Zimbabwean regime hasn't changed at all, hand shaking or not.

The jug-eared bastard shook hands with Suharto once. Mugabe is small fry in comparison. Then again, maybe improvements can start with a handshake.

It would have been quite funny if Mugabe had given him a Chinese burn.

Being at the pope's funeral is offensive enough. Condoms give you aids? Abortion is evil in all cases? We were created by a god? We're at the centre of the universe? Give me a break.
