Korea is already the most heavily fortified border in the world.

Hundreds of thousands of troops patrol the frontier...

It's a pretty long frontier.

Only 238 km

An 1.1 million army patrolling 238 km seems quite a lot to me...

What's the big deal? They've been used in Iraq since 2003.

Seem to recall a robotics book from the 90s that listed a project for an armed sentry car.

Of course, the shit will hit the fan when they get hacked. :)

WHEN, not if.

Shit. I better start checking the jobs sites.

South Koreans defect to the North? Boy are those idiots in for a rude awakening once they get to the workers paradise.

Yeah, that does sound like a pretty mad thing to do...

* Cruddy muses on a reason to defect to N Korea

Perhaps they were looking for a lost dog?

Maybe they have family on the other side?

Perhaps they are escaped criminals who need a safe haven?

Provost sounds right though. Mad as cut snakes.

They kicked their ball over the border and want it back?

Or they prefer communism and big fancy buildings.

And starvation. Don't forget starvation.

Provost Harrison

They have that in abundance...

Shouldn't be they DON't have something in abundance - like food?

Maybe that's the answer - it's a really fat South Korean who just can't stop eating.

Sign at the border:

"Welcome to Kim Jong Il's Health Spa and Weight Loss Center! (Formerly North Korea)"

That would be a great way to solve everyone's problems. Instead of sending food to Africa, we send fat people to Africa, and Africans to the US and Europe.
