Rather than buying 2 big avacadoes for my guacamole, I always have to get 3 medium ones.

Who gets all the big avacadoes in the world? Because they don't come to my town.

What he is really saying is that he is jealous of all those that have bigger "things" than he does ;)

One of those 3rd world farmers we are told are oppressed rigid...

...Well, if you grow ALL the big ones - who gets them>

Or do you just say "Si Senor" to the man from Del Monte like a good peon?

Only those who can spell avocado can get the big ones.

The most reasonable explanation yet posted.

And further proof I don't use a spell checker.

We've got shit loads of them here. Some of them are about the size of a grapefruit and they're grown locally both commercialy and as a backyard fruit. I could mail you some but customs might not like fruit being imported.

I was going to make a joke about Big Artie, the guy who choked three people for a pound at saver centre but I thought better of it.

It's a damn sight bigger than you'll see on a UK supermarket shelf.

Bastards charge a flat rate per fruit, so they've been carefully sorted for size beforehand.

What size are those that you call "small", then? I would have thought a small one would be a tiny bit smaller than those grapefruit sized ones mentioned earlier.

Here they are the size of a small to medium pear.

Yeah, that's how big they are here too. How big are your grapefruits?

I actually went to this back in 2000 and it was actually fun. Last years winning avocado was 9.25 oz so a little over 3/4lb. Those are the local ones while the Mexican avocados grow larger since they're closer to the tropics.
