Has there been a thread about this?

It's quite funny.

I thought it was brilliant. Having somehow avoided all will ferrell's vehicles up to now, i have ended up watching Anchorman, Blades of Glory and Elf all in a couple of months. Elf is a bit more kidsy of course but they are well worth viewing. Some of the lines are genius and will ferell really is a fantastic comedy actor.

Funnily enough I also watched it a few weeks ago. I thought it was really good.

Yeah, Anchorman is great.

I really enjoyed Talladega Nights, co-starring Sacha Baron Cohenů

Looks like his star is on the up in much the same way that Ben Stiller wrote his own stuff to star in.

Anchorman has to be one of the most overrated comedies in recent times. Yes, there are some funny moments but it's nothing more than dumb, purile American humour most of the time with a stupid script and hardly any clever gags like there were in Airplane, it's no where near as funny as Naked Gun at it's best and i thought De Niro's comedy performances in Meet The Parents & meet The Fockers are better than Ferrells.

i don't agree with that at all. airplane is one of my favourite films ever, but 'clever'? i don't think so. and naked gun? naked gun has an extended sequence featuring frank drebbin hilariously hanging from a statue's cock.

i love all of those films but i wouldn't have the gall to say the naked gun/airplane films were on a different intellectual plane to anchorman

Anchorman is brilliant. You know a movie is awesome when it spawns brilliant one-lners that are used by intelligent people worldwide.

Frankly, if somebody tells me their apartment smells of rich mahogany and has many leather-bound books as a pickup line, it will actually work now...
