in anticipation of the new Doctor Who

still not sure about Eccleston, but just cant wait to hear that woo- eeee--oooowww soundtrack and watch a PROPER PROGRAMME not about DIY or frigging traffic wardens.

I used to shit myself when the cybermen were on TV, although daleks didnt scare me toooo much. I remember being glued to it as a child and loving all the weird time leaping scenarios and figuring out how the tardis could be bigger inside than out

I might wee myself right now in fact!!! :)

has anyone else pencilled it into their Saturday schedule and did anyone watch the leaked episode?

The original 1964 Delia Derbyshire theme tune was brilliant. Unfortunately, I don't think the actual programme has aged well.

Interesting, Interesting. Someone at the BBC is sitting in a big leather chair smirking at the free publicity they 'accidentally' got with that leaked episode. And how fortunate it wasn't a final edit because now they've heard popular opinion they can edit accordingly!

BTW I met Peter Davison when he was Doctor Who, and he was a miserable fucker.

It hasn't. But I really liked it at the time.

phucking philistine!

I know what you mean, but I think its ripe for a makeover. I saw some clips and it looks GREAT.

To be honest I'm pretty glad there's a scripted programme being aired, because I'm sick of programmes being filmed on handicam and featuring the kind of people I can find living next door pottering about.

The idea of a dimension hopping time lord who vanquishes shop dummies with Billie Piper as a sidekick, and has actually planned his programme far enough in advance to include speshul effects and witty quips, is nearly enough to send me into an orgasmic fit. Plus the Doctor was the best programme ever.

I only said the old series hasn't aged well.

The new one looks good.

I love the old ones- shaky sets, foil wrapped villains, crazy Tom Baker.....you can't beat that.

Crazy Tom Baker I'll agree with, but the rest weren't so hot. Still that didn't mean I'd miss out on the 4 hours a week Arena would broadcast on a Saturday afternoon in 1998 :D

Bad in bed?

I don't remember many of the details of that show, but I did watch it. The sets were even cheesier than the ones on Star Trek.

I am surprised no "Dr Who" AE showed up to ask about all this plugging to be done to him/it. Boy, have we really degenerated!

To go back to the subject: I'm glad to hear that Dr Who shall traverse time and space again. I wonder how long it will take for it to show up over here? I suppose I'll need to find a nice pirate site that has all the shows, or I'll never get to see it in this BBC shy region. :(

I heard a great anecdote about Tom Baker the other day. He was at some sort of function, and a would-be interviewer stepped up and introduced themself with the line-

"Hello Mr Baker. I'm a student..."

...whereupon Tom Baker promptly butted in with a shocked and sympathetic expression. "Really? How ghastly for you". Then gave him ten pounds and sauntered happily away.
