...and in less than a month, I'm heading to Kansas.

Feeling kinda sad, I've spent four years of my life here, and thirty-eight years in New Jersey, but it's time I moved on. I'm going to miss a lot of guys here, and I know I'll never see or hear from most of them again, because that's what has always happened when friends have moved away. Some of the work was fun, some wasn't, as is usually the case with a job.

I know I will miss the eight uninterrerupted hours of solitude in this lab, accompanied only by a computer with high speed web access. It's really the main reason I stayed on here for as long as I have. ;)

It hasn't "hit" me yet, but I think it's starting to.

Kansas? I'm sorry. Oh wait you are moving from New Jersey.

Thanks. :)

Kansas is much better than New Jersey in many ways, but...there are no Jersey diners out there. That will cost me, but I must persevere.

Good luck MM.

It's not that tough after you get used to the idea that you aren't on vacation and atually living there in Kansas. When I first left NYC for Statesville NC, it just felt like I was on vacation and would be going back anytime soon. It felt that way for at least a year.

It eventually sunk in as I settled in. Things I miss about NY are trivial. The food, the amount of stores and hours they were open. But nothing of enough importance to ever want to go back.

I'm a hick now, living in Bumfuck Idaho. Love it. :) Well, not really a hick. You can take the boy out of the city but never the city out of the boy.

What things are there to do in Kansas when you're not dead?

Never mind, new life, new opportunities, look back and think, "That was the right thing to do", and all that.

Best of luck

Danke.

I am home -- such as it is for the next 26 days, give or take a few.

They gave me a nice send-off. :)

I remember leaving Hull. I didn't feel sad until after I had left when I had a bit of homesickness. It lasted 10 minutes. Then it never came back

Jersey's not so bad. (Says the man who swears he's moving to Montana.)

Good luck Mad Monk!

Drekkus, there's... er... let's see.... Let me holler at some kin out in Kansas and see what they have to say.

Ok, here's the answer: drinking, screwing, hunting, and tornado chasing. So, it's like all the rest of the USA... only most places, they don't chase tornadoes. ;)

He's moving to Kansas City area anyway. Great bbq and blues :)

Well, duh! That's what makes this place America. If you don't have great BBQ and Blues, then you are in a foreign country. That's why Canada isn't America, you know. ;)

zmama

That's why I don't like it here! :gotit:

No blues and the bbq sucks!!

Darkstar

No blues? AND NO BBQ? IN WEST VIRGINIA?

Impossible. Wait....

:gotit: You are in jail! Now, it all makes sense! Protective custody, is it? Say Hilary Clinton eating a baby, and the Repukingtons put you away to trot out in 08?

Honestly, I cannot believe there isn't any decent BBQ in WV. Blues, well, I doubt that gets a lot of play when people of light tones are around.

Yeah it's pretty light around here.

As for bbq...the people around here *gulp* take that chipped ham crap and pour sauce all over it and call it bbq

Unpacking and putting away? Hate it!!!
