I've bid on something on ebay (for the first time) and it looks like I'm going to win it.

I don't have the money until the weekend.

Do you reckon the guy will wait or just give me loads of negative feedback?

Loads of negative feedbackI guess. What did you bid on?

Just send a cheque when the auction ends, it won't clear for 5 days anyway so you'll have the fund in the account.

Cool. Good idea.

Hopefull I'll have it in time to mix Muf's EP.

You have 3 hours yet ! The serious bidding doesn't start until the last 5 minutes.

Best of luck anyway. I'm sure your top bid of 2,500 will see you through ;)

By the way, I'm most disillusioned with ebay. My advice is to stick to obvious traders with an name to protect. Second hand goods can be in any condition if you even receive them.

Never bought anything from it or anything but have been bored shitless by people talking about it. Especially at work.

Spartak
01-03-2005, 14:07:06
its generally overpriced anyway.

Bergzwerg
01-03-2005, 14:07:58
Yeah, that too. People at work are always buying stuff at second hand shops or whatever and making money selling it on e-bay.

"Oooh, I made 13p on some cigarette cards!"

Tizzy

A friend of mine did that for a while, one month he made more off ebay than he did at work.

Bergzwerg

It seems a lot of people will buy anything off e-bay for any price. Whether they want it or not.

hmm. I was outbid. When should I start bidding again?

Bergzwerg
01-03-2005, 16:46:32
Apparently - people are often rapidly bidding right up to the last minute.

5 mins to go?

Bergzwerg

A new one is only 69

Ah... plus VAT.

protein
01-03-2005, 16:53:58
Yeah, funny you should say that, at Digital Village it's 69 including vat. They were displaying the wrong price yesterday.

Bollocks to getting a second hand one then. I'm getting one on interest free credit today.

5 mins to go is a good time. Set your upper limit and bid it...add on a silly 3 cents or so just to make it harder to be outbid by neophytes.

No I'm not. I'm going to wait until I have money in the bank.

It's only because I'd have to wait for their forms to arrive and by the time they do I'd have been paid by this band.

I guess this backs up the "e-bay can be overpriced" argument.

Nah, a band called Alfredo Contract. If it was just you guys I wouldn't be able to afford it.

Thankfully "the path" and crew are recording the rest of the album here this month too.

Definately. It was all great when I could only find it elsewhere for 90 and it was 55 on Ebay.

I bought 2' of 3/32" heat-shrink tubing on ebay for like $5 including shipping. That's what you've got to watch, usually they try to get lots of money by jacking up the shipping cost. International shipping can soak you, too.

I've heard that they jack up shipping to reduce ebay's cut on a sale. I haven't sold anything, so I really don't know how that works.

Sir Penguin

That's the other reason.
