http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0502/dragonstorm_cassini_c62.jpg Dubbed the "Dragon Storm", convoluted, swirling cloud features are tinted orange in this false-color, near-infrared image of Saturn's southern hemisphere. In one of a series of discoveries announced by Cassini researchers, the Dragon Storm was found to be responsible for mysterious bursts of radio static monitored by Cassini instruments during the last year as the spacecraft orbited the ringed planet. The storm is now thought to be a giant Saturnian thunderstorm, like storms on Earth, with radio noise produced in high-voltage lightning discharges. The Cassini observations are also consistent with the Dragon Storm being a long-lived storm, deep within the gas giant's atmosphere, that periodically flares-up to produce large, visible storm regions.

considering my concept of how far we are away from the sun is 1, then i guess that makes saturn a 10

Astronomers call "the distance the earth is from the sun" an Astronomical Unit.

We are 1 AU, Saturn is 9.5 AU.

you are the schmjart one.

I knew that! Well I knew the AU thing about earth not Saturn.

I also know how to count to 10.

MOBIUS

Yeah, I hope I see them - March/April is either still 'high season' or I'm just going to miss out. Depends which guide book I read:clueless:

OK, nine then - I never was any good at that reading malarkey...

That's why I need all the books, so I have more pictures to look at!:D

Libraries are great.

Currently my book habit is fed by my Dad's constant trawling of second hand bookshops. I get them once he's read them. Nice deal. :)

Around 1988 there was some sort of freak storm coming off of the sun which caused the Aurora Borealis to be visable all the way to southern California. I imagine the Aurora Australis was doing the same so you might have seen it if you looked up at the sky. ;)
