WHEN 35 Greenpeace protesters stormed the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) yesterday they had planned the operation in great detail.

What they were not prepared for was the post-prandial aggression of oil traders who kicked and punched them back on to the pavement.

“We bit off more than we could chew. They were just Cockney barrow boy spivs. Total thugs,” one protester said, rubbing his bruised skull. “I’ve never seen anyone less amenable to listening to our point of view.”

Green Peace deserves to get their asses kicked. Their tactics rely upon them doing outragous things and no one doing anything outragous to them in exchange.

maybe city traders should scale the giant greenpeace tower and drape a banner over it reading 'buy more cars'

Or they can just beat the shit out of them when they try to screw with them. How's that for a response?

Drekkus

spiv is a english term for a kind of sharp-suited smooth talking guy with a load of cheap watches in side his jacket, something like that

the kind of guy who has a great offer for you on the hush hush

Funkodrom

Drekkus

Funkodrom

MattHiggs

Funkodrom
18-02-2005, 12:42:00
I was thinking of Nav's warnings about buying phones off you but yeah - Bossman, totally.

MattHiggs
18-02-2005, 12:47:38
Except he has dodgy wine in his jacket.

Funkodrom
18-02-2005, 12:53:20
His voice is a dodgy wine. ;)

Last time I saw him he was asking if I wanted to help him with the technical side of setting up his own web wine sales business in a couple of years. :hmm:

MattHiggs

Sounds to me like he's coming on to you. Don't be a victim.

H ha ha! I used to work in the IPE. Trust there to be that sort of action after I'd left.

Maybe they heard an environmental boy was working there, and when he left it was just the excuse they needed!

Ha! Someone kicked Greenpeace's asses. Nice.

Funkodrom
18-02-2005, 13:20:23
Even the French can kick Greenpeace's arse. No real achievement.

It's funny to hear them complain about getting beaten up. I'm sure they got beaten up a lot in high school and stuff.

a drop-out road protestor

he opposed the newbury bypass (i think) with a load of other similar people who built tree houses and shit like that

he became a minor celebrity and even had a column in the Sun newspaper at one point :clueless:

Venom
18-02-2005, 15:24:02
Did he look anything like this:

A spiv, by the way, is a wartime blackmarket trader. The kind of person who stays fat during rationing by living of the hunger of others. Thaink of walker from dad's Army rather than Delboy or MattHiggs - both of whom are rather lovable if slightly pathetic.

King_Ghidra
18-02-2005, 15:57:56
i wanted to use him as an example but reasoned that no one would know who he was :)

for you spartak, ze war is over!

Spartak
18-02-2005, 19:27:11
Yeah, well I'm old so stuff like that still means something for me.

The best thing about the dad's army reruns wa sthe chance to catch up on some of the subtly that passed me by when I was a kid. That was great, I got to enjoy the programme on two completely different levels.
