Zen internet.

After trying Tescos (very cheap, 12 month minimum though and download limits) who were oversubscribed and couldn't give me a connection date I tried Zen. Ordered it on Friday, they said it might take 5 days to get the line check from BT - they did it on Monday.

Quoted me sometime on Thursday to switch the line on from their end (up to 11:59pm).

Got an e-mail from them at 00:20 this morning saying it was active.

I got all the information from them about setting the system up on Monday too. Including real stuff like DNS server (and backup server addresses) and all the settings for the router.

Also the 4 way router they were supposed to ship today arrived on Monday morning.

Really good contention, fixed IP, no bandwidth limit, no minimum contract. It's 25 a month for 512K and a 50 connection fee - so it's not cheap but it is a proper ISP. What great service so far. I guess you get what you pay for.

I'll let you know how I get on with it tonight.

you pay 25 a month and they give you 512K? Is that a month or a year? Hows that going to work?

Told you it was a great deal.

Rather handsomely for Funko methinks :D

my cowie here has just got his 8mb line from bulldog - costs him 40 a month but i imagine that is gross overkill for most normal people

i think ntl are upgrading across their network so that might be worth a look for some people, although they are upgrading to compete with bt who finally seem to be getting their act together. as soon as i sort my house out i will be reactivating my bt i think.

Well all the ADSL is BT but worth looking at the other providers, there's a wide range of prices and different service quality out there and BT aren't the best at either. Just the most well known.

UK Suckers! I pay 12 a month for my 10MBit.

NTL were good - I'd have them again if we could get cable here.

Well... Especially as they were charging me 15 a month for their 28 a month service.

She must have been using my computer. If I didn't fear for my balls I could have had fun posting as her. :)

17-02-2005, 20:14:54
Oh don't do it...it'd be more than yer balls.

I remember Ned did it...I haven't seen him around lately

17-02-2005, 20:19:53
I didn't, I logged out. :)

NTL now offer ADSL without having to switch your phone. I'm paying 17.99 a month for 512K. There are supposed to be download limits but I haven't been snagged yet :D

Oh yeah, i was with Tesco before and they were shite - couldn't get me connected and it took me 2 months to get my line back to go with NTL. Customer service sucks.

I went to watch TV for a bit, my housemate was in the lounge with his laptop plugged into our ADSL router telnetting into it so he could look at all the options we have.

Note to Tizzy...when his new computer gets there set up your own user account and put a good password on it :D

Of course you've already considered that ;)

She's not getting admin access.

18-02-2005, 13:34:23
Really she should have admin access and I should be locked out.
