Pete and the Pirates (http://www.peteandthepirates.co.uk) met up with Stolen Recordings (http://www.stolenrecordings.co.uk/) at the weekend. They're putting them in the studio at the end of the month to record an EP that'll hopefully be out in April.

The Pirates website?

I made it - to specification. I really like it. and it caused massive arguments on Berkshire Live when they unveiled it which was funny.

to my knowledge there are two pages - the funny picture on the front and then an upcoming gigs page

by sort out i mean add more content

Funkodrom

They specifically don't want more.

My design brief included something along the lines of

No guest book, no influences, no gallery, no shit!

I had to argue to make them put the "next gig" link to the gigs on the home page as an obvious link, not just hidden in the picture.

There is some hidden shit as well - band point of view is "If people want something they'll be prepared to work for it".

fair enough, i suppose i was just a bit disappointed when i got excited on hearing there was a website and then found no content to enjoy when i got to it

So you've not seen the Palestinians website yet then? More pages than P&tP, but somehow even less content. Rock & Roll.

Big Pete's just what they call him to distinguish between him and little Pete. :)

22-02-2005, 17:11:57
yeah the mp3's were cool but not even a patch on seeing them live

that version of knife at least sounds more like the live version

if they can get some of that going on on the legendary 10 track version i will be a very very happy man

Apparently they recorded 6 songs in the studio. 2 of them, electric and sonny are now on the site as AACs, and new photos.

'apparently'?

anyway how am i supposed to play that bizarre file format, WMP doesn't like it and i can't have things like winamp on my machine at work

Funko
15-03-2005, 12:01:27
They are AACs, not really that bizarre. That's what they sent me... I don't have them as mp3s. Unfortunately. If I get a CD I'll make mp3s.

I didn't know WMP couldn't play them! Really, strange that, pretty much everything else can! Quick check of what I have here and WinAmp, Quicktime, iTunes, RealPlayer all play them.

Hello everyone,

I came across this thread while searching for an AAC plugin for WMP. I'd just about given up when I found something that actually works. Go here: http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html and download the AAC parser filter for DirectShow. Get both the aac_parser.zip file and one of the decoder filters they offer. Both seem to work fine. Just install both the decoder and the parser and you'll be playing AAC files in no time.

Now, this will get the AAC files to play in Windows Media, but I'm having trouble adding the files to my music library. Microsoft needs to fix this and get over their ridiculous fear of iTunes. I'm guessing it's kinda like their reason for not supporting DivX: "We haven't heard of it!" But at any rate, this will get the files playing, and that's better than nothing.

If you just change the file extension to .mp3 they'll work just fine. They're .M4a format, which is Apple's own version of .mp3 format, and is basically identical.

Funko

I've borrowed the CD but I was only allowed on the condition I don't give anyone else a copy and that I buy it when it comes out.

Debaser
26-03-2005, 11:42:18
Are all 6 tracks going to come out then?

Funko
26-03-2005, 11:43:58
Yeah, it's going to be a 6 track EP called Get Even (I guess, Pete and the Pirates Get Even).

I might not be able to give you a copy but you are welcome to come and have a listen though!
