think its about time to upgrade the old gf4200 ti. The rest of the system is a 2.4 athalon/1gig 333 ram on a soltek kt-600-rl

could probably splash out to a couple of hundred pounds but would prefer something around 150. Also it would be good if it didnt sound like a hairdrier.

Make sure you get one that's AGP, since you don't have a PCIe slot.

You could probably pay less for a 6600GT and only get slightly worse performance.

I like the ATI X700, at the moment I have the 9600 and its been really good.

The X800 is just too damned expensive.

As far as I know, the XY00 series is PCIe-only.

You can get AGP or PCIe. Look on newegg. I'm sure I saw both kinds for the 800.
