Fucking cashpoint has no fucking money.

How can they call it a cash point when there's no cash in it? huh?

I refuse to make a 30 minute round trip to the cashpoint in Tesco
express...which has probably run out too.

How the fuck can I go out with no fucking money? I don't think I have
ever been this angry.

You could try using plastic?

Most places here accept credit/check cards. Many of the fast food chains have put machines in.

Pubs are pretty difficult in that regard - very few will accept cards...

Good to know if I ever get back over there. Most of the places here will let you run a tab. Some used to hold my card until I was finished, but that hasn't happened in a long time.

I never use cash

don't even really use my check card/debit card for anything

I just use credit cards (Because they have better fraud protection)

unfortunately a few things (including the credit cards) still need to use my bank account and real money

yah

all the pubs here take cards, although most people spend cash (Because if you and your freinds are on your card, you will end up spending more than yuo should (And your freinds less))

If you're going out, then surely there must be a cash-point somewhere near the pub/bar ?

Some pubs even have cash withdrawal machines in them.

Apart from that, it's only half hour, take a deep breath and go out via Tesco's. 10 minutes after you've got your cash, and finished cussing, you'll be into your first drink, problem all but forgotten.

Or alternatively bum off of your friends tonight.

Martini

Ok, problem solved, found a nice local bar where they actually let me use my card and then gave me cash back :)

I only just arrived here, so no idea where cash machines are - only knew about the one accross the road and Tesco because someone told me. They neglected to tell me they were empty, but nevermind.

Anyway, off to get properly drunk now! :D

I hate leaving my card with bartenders. Untrustworthy cock biters are just as likely to add on charges as they are to give you your drink. Especially at strip clubs. Never "open a tab" at a strip club.

Yeah fewer places take credit cards in England and much fewer in Germany. But the nice thing was when I came back there wasn't a big credit card bill waiting. Except for the airfare

I like the credit carding over there for the automatic exchange rate. Which also doesn't hose you on the transfer fee. It's a god damn mother fucking conspiracy by the banks to squeeze some extra money out of people. Fucking bitches.

zmama
31-01-2005, 21:11:45
The exchange rate for the cashmachines is good too

Oh is it really now?

I was hoping this thread would involve an act of violence perpetrated by a vexed feminazi, but instead it has descended into financial paranoia

zmama

Yup...same bulk rate as credit cards. Of course there's the ATM fee but its still less than the exchange places

Venom
31-01-2005, 21:19:20
That god damn ATM fee. Someone's gonna die over that shit. That's the only way to stop it.

I actually take that back

one time I left being too drunk to stand up

and than there was an extra charge on my account (form the next day)

so I did a fraud thing and everything came out ok

See? I'm right. As usual.

Lurker

Another warning: don't just not charge things at a strip club, but also don't take out a cash advance on your credit card there. They generally charge you something ridiculous, like 10 or 20 percent.

JM^3
31-01-2005, 22:18:12
hmm, that is an awful lot of info on strip clubs there, lurker

btw, I must say that I am disappointed you don't look anything like your avatar

Don't supermarkets allow you to get cash back? In the US they'll give you up to $60 back if you ask them.

I don't want to hear those filthy words. Quitters never win and rehab is for quitters. You want to be a winner don't you? Of course you do. We all do.

Here they won't give you cash back with a credit card. Just debit.

I've got a great bank which supplies me with a debit card that acts as a credit card, doesn't charge me ATM fees when I'm abroad and lets me transfer money to foreign accounts for free.

In fact there's only one drawback.

Funkodrom
01-02-2005, 09:36:26
It should be illegal for bars to accept credit cards. That way leads to stupid ideas like "let's have a bottle of their most expensive champagne". Urgh.

Gary
01-02-2005, 10:01:29
Or better still, getting pissed and not remebering that you didn't order their best champagne !
