Gig in 10 days time!

Pete (my brother, SU frontman) took most of the photos, he's the first non-member to hear us and he said he thought that Müf were really good, better than our previous bands. *phew*

AKs Godin looks quite nice. Can you get them in white?

Nope, these are the colours.

They are around the £300, £400 mark

Were you about to give your drummer a back-hander across the mouth?

No, that's a very carefully staged shot to make it look like we're having an in depth musical discussion. :hmm:

Not sure if you can tell that I have my foot on the bass drum...

They're using the room after Readings finest band next wednesday....

Funkodrom

Rob might be knackered after turd polishing of that intensity. But you guys could all kick back and have a beer and hang out if you wanted. Should be fun, we (hopefully) should only need to run through the set really.

I ain't polishing anything. I'm doing a non-polishing rehearsal recording on strict orders.

I will have to try and get rid of that god-awful low mid standing wave honky sound from the room though. You'll probably hear the other bands in the background too.

Oh, MM, any chance of a lift with my gear? There's a bit too much to walk with. Does anyone in your band drive?

Funkodrom
13-01-2005, 11:33:45
Gareth and Austin both do. Either of them might offer to pick you up but you'll feel less in fear of death if Gareth drives you. :)

"low mid standing wave honky sound from the room though"

You know Debaser's the bass player? No need to be quite so rude about him...

Funkodrom
13-01-2005, 11:35:25
Know what you mean though. Room 3 (which we normally use) is miles better for sound, but a bit small for a 5 piece.

I'll find out for you. Shouldn't be a problem.

And you can polish us a bit if you like. Infact do whatever it takes to make us sound as great in real life as we do in our heads. (Probably best you start booking those session players now).

It'll be fine. I might use this to experiment with transfering tracks from my 16 track into Pro Tools.

"Five beats to the bar?! Did you say five?"

*Funny if you know the drummer.....

Oh and greetings from India by the way!

Yes, although bizarrely the song featuring 5/8 we wrote when the drummer wasn't there. He loved it when he found out.

protein
17-01-2005, 12:12:45
5/8.

Is it because it's an intellectual challenge or because it sounds really good?

Funkodrom
17-01-2005, 12:14:59
Sam and I jammed something then spent ages trying to work out how to count it! :D

We're only calling it 5/8 rather than 5/4 because sometimes it's in 6 but the beats are the same length as the 5 bit. :)

protein
17-01-2005, 12:38:59
So does it sound good or does it sound like you're trying to be clever? Will I get to record it?

Funkodrom
17-01-2005, 12:43:51
Hard to be objective about that but I don't think it sounds like we're trying to be clever. :)

I think it's our joint best song so probably.

Sadly both wild monkeys and cocunuts are banned (as food) stuffs from being brought through customs. Maybe I should have pretended to be a travelling organ grinder....

I did however get badly roocked on some (n ot so cheap) cheap hindu god tablets. I don't feel so bad cos they were from a tsunami village and they did need the business - so you can all have one, maybe two of those!

In Chenai I was reading about some guy who has a bit of a penchent for weird food (live scorpions, rattle snakes etc). It turns out he is one of the few people alive today who has eaten the classic south indian delicasy of Boiled Monkey brains (as depicted in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), before it was banned in 1979!
