View Full Version : Firefox scrolling oddity

I installed it at home last night.

For whatever reason, just nudging my mousewheel in either direction causes pages to scroll all the way to the top or all the way to the bottom. It's rather annoying, and will be a dealbreaker if it can't be fixed (love my mousewheel!).

This does not happen with any other program, which includes IE, NS Communicator 4.3, PaintShopPro, and other assorted programs I used before and after the installation.

What's up with this?

Doesn't do that for me.

Me either

Try Tools-->Options-->Advanced--->Browsing

and change the scrolling selections you have there

It's acting normally now. How very odd.

Did you accidently click down on the scroll wheel? That will do it too

Nope, I set that to autopscroll; A particular icon pops up when I click down on the scroll wheel, and it wasn't there and the wheel is nonfunctional for as long as I have autoscroll activated. I also clicked it deliberately to make sure it wasn't the culprit.

Since it's working (and I'm using it right now), any recomendations for extensions? I have no idea what's vital, what's nice, what's useless, and what's toxic.

Tabbrowser Preferences.

I like Add Bookmark Here - simply and very useful (for me at least).

Here are the pertinent ones I use:

Image Zoom: zoom in on images
ieview: open a page/link in Internet Explorer
Linkification: converts text links into hyperlinks
ReloadEvery: lets you reload a page periodically
Translate: translate stuff
Session Saver: Remembers loaded tabs and history between sessions
Bookmark Backup: backs up bookmarks each time the browser is closed.

Some of those you can't get from the extension download site, you have to Google them.
