I trust all you geeks have seen it already. As expected it looks fairly shit, but there's a bit with a whole army of wookies. Classy.

Oh yeah. Sorry,

05-11-2004, 16:15:06
That's ok. :)

Bring it over when ever you come to the flat... which is whenever you want!

My expectations are low for this movie...which of course means I'll still be disappointed. God damn George Lucas.

05-11-2004, 22:45:23
He's been disappointing you for years, Venom. Now you know how your parent's felt (before you chopped off their arms and legs, applied tournaquets, sewed them into their blood covered beds, applied 20 gallons of petro, and burned them alive.)

06-11-2004, 01:11:35
I learned how to disappoint from him.

06-11-2004, 05:40:29
Come on, we know the following for facts:

* Samuel L Jackson gets slaughtered by a evil cyborg with magic powers.

* It's got Wookies in it.

Even though it won't have Alec Guiness, at least its got two of the seriously cool things from the originals that have been missing from the first two films.

06-11-2004, 20:13:06
I'm with Venom on this. George Lucas couldn't make the originals again, because he really doesn't know how he did it.

06-11-2004, 22:38:54
I know how he did it.

He didn't write the originals.

He wrote the story, the screenplay was written by other people and the best one, ESB, he didn't even direct.

ROTJ was the beginging of seeing what would happen as Lucas started believeing what people wrote about him.

Now he writes, directs, and produces crap.

07-11-2004, 01:15:28
Because he just let all the creative people around him mould the first three films organically. Now it's a process where Lucas is absolutely in charge and computer graphics give him everything he wants.

There isn't that Jim Henson-esque feel to any of the aliens. There isn't that 1970s British sound effects feel to the sound. The backgrounds are increadibly lush instead of realistic. Nothing looks solid. Nothing has fingerprints or dirt on it. Everything looks like a perfectly composed slightly blurred computer generated spotless painting. Nothing looks solid. I'll say it again - nothing looks solid.

07-11-2004, 01:23:55
lol yes the blurryness of CGI is annoying
Bladerunner was pre-CGI and its immaculately done. There's doesnt seem to be any need for CGI in most areas where its used. The worst thing is big battle scenes- they look so fake. Gone with the Wind had better battle scenes, all done using extras and dummies.

13-11-2004, 00:21:56
I thought LOTR did the big battle scenes well enough...

13-11-2004, 02:27:20
Yeah but that didn't have to fit in with and look older than a movie made nearly 30 years earlier. They could get away with digital looking graphics and you can suspend your disbelief for things like that if it's a new film.

I'm not making sense. Time for beddybye time.
