View Full Version : Free Game of the Week - Text Express

It stuck me a couple of weeks ago that we haven't had a "Countdown"-style word descrambler on this feature yet. While there are probably better games in the genre out there, this is the only one I've seen with unrestricted regular-play features that doesn't require registration. It's quite fun, too.

Level 15, 8090

13590, 14 stations (I had some lucky series of easy letters, even managed 100% on one level !). The last one I almost made, I was right behind the blue car.

WTF????

MoSe

after stumbling in innumerable dead-ends as you can see above, with huge effort I inched up to a mere 8420, lev11, which should show how leaky is my lexicon...

I got overtaken on the finish line, because despite I had found FLUENT and FLUTE, following a brain jam I had no FUEL LEFT!

11600 Level 18.

I'm shit at these word puzzles. Give me maths!

protein

Not as shit as me. I always seem to get to level six or seven and they'll give me ZXWQNE or something and I have to just randomly click hoping for a real word.

14420 / 17

I love this game. I'm getting better at it. Especially as you learn a load of three letter combinations that apparently are words even though you've never seen them before.

Oh and working out that they were in alphabetical order helped with 'filling in the gaps' type things. Haven't got past level 18 but I'm scoring a lot more heavily on the earlier levels.

Something in the hundreds. There is a reason I don't do Countdown...

Provost Harrison
05-10-2004, 17:24:14
It's just too frustrating...I just look at the letters blank unable to see anything...

Immortal Wombat

Level 20 eventually. I failed because of my inability to spot "arses"

protein

Wouldn't accept "wang".

It's a bit easier if you type (enter submits, space shuffles).

Deet is a mosquito repellant. It won't allow other names though.

I still can't get any more than 8500 ish. I'm starting to think I'm dicklicksick.

so to play this game i'm expected to know words for characters in the international symbols langauge or some shit and also to know words from middle english

the only remotely reasonable one is the mosquito repellant one

It just wanted the word "gambia" though.

Damn, I'm addicted to this horrible game.

So to get 100% scored on this game, yes. You should be able to get reasonably far just getting all the non-obscure words and maybe guessing a few three-letter words.

Funkodrom

Eth is a pretty normal word - look in the pronounciation key of any dictionary and it'll be there. I've heard of it before.

Have you tried this game after a few beers? What the fuck is a CARDIA? What frikkin' words can you make out of that in, like, no seconds - and when your hand-eye coordination is rather poor?

Yes, and not a particularly uncommon one either. It would go largely unnoticed in many newspapers.

Its a word used often in the US.
I like the derivation :D

{Yiddish shtik, piece, routine, from Middle High German stücke, piece, from Old High German stukki, crust, fragment}
