End of a Season
The Diablo II 1.10 Ladder Season 1 will soon come to an end and Blizzard would like to thank all the players -- New, Returning and Veteran alike -- for making this a great Season. As a special treat to reward the Top Players from around the world, we will be immortalizing the Top 10 Expansion and Expansion Hardcore Characters in each of the 7 Classes on the Blizzard website. That's 140 players from each Realm!
Season 1 Ladder Characters will be moved to their own 1.10+ population when the season ends. Be sure to check back here for details on future Ladder Seasons.

Diablo II Ladder Season Update
Here’s a quick update about the Season 1 Ladder coming to an end and the beginning of Season 2:
Season 1 Ladder players are being moved into the same 1.10+ population that Non-Ladder players are in.
Season 1 players get to keep Ladder exclusive items when they are moved.
Season 2 is happening =]
There will be a server-side content update. This will only be for the new Ladder for Season 2.
We will be tracking every Player’s Ladder Standings throughout the new Season.
A special reward awaits...
Get ready for a new challenge with a chance for Season 2 glory!

Stay tuned for more, very soon!

As you can see, for a very short while, the message was that old ladder chars would be sent "to their own 1.10+ population ", which brought much consternation to the Diablo community. Thankfully, that changed.

The ladder has been reset, and this time there are prizes involved:

The D2 ladders have indeed been reset, the race to 99 is joined, and this time there's a prize for the winner. Check the Bliz page for full contest rules and information, but simply stated, the first player, with any character, to reach Clvl 99 on each realm will win:

One (1) "Tichondrius" Polystone statue manufactured by Toycom; One (1) Blizzard T-Shirt; One (1) Blizzard North CD-Wallet; and One (1) autographed copy of the Collector's Edition of Blizzard Entertainment's massively multi-player on-line role playing game, "World of Warcraft." The total approximate retail value of this prize package is $174.99.

I haven't had much time to play, but I've managed to put a level 23 skelemancer and a level 19 cold sorcie into Act 4 Normal.

First unique I got was the first unique I've gambled since before 1.09 -- Hands of Broc, which are a boon to low level characters and are being passed around as needed.

I've loaded out my first account, decided to go with a military theme this time around:

Ghost_Scout, lvl 16 lighting trapper, Act 2.
General_Grant, lvl 23 skelemancer, Act 4 RoF.
Major_Frost, lvl 19 cold sorcie, Act 4.
Sergeant_Hammer, lvl 13 (future) hammerdin, Act 2.
Amazon_Hoplite, lvl 10 (future) lightningzon, Act 1.
Gatling_Girl, lvl 12 (future) strafezon, Act 1.
MysticArtillary, lvl 11 fire sorcie, Act 1.
Sergeant_Storm, lvl 11 wind druid, Act 2.

That's because they are playing... not posting on forums. ;)
