The search function is disabled due to the excessive amount of database space it uses up for storing keywords.

Now, why would you ever want to search for anything? What has been posted in the past never matters, does it? And if it isn't a current thread, why try to find it? Those are all reasons posted recently in Main by a number of our posters. I wonder if any of those were Management? ;)

Well it does kind of suck that you can't search out all the many words of wisdom contained in these forums.

I tried building an index for a years worth of posts and that caused the downtime lastnight. So no search until another solution can be found, sorry.

So, you need another machine to do the processing so it doesn't pull down CG, and then boost the built index back? So... you'd need a spare machine, snapshot of the post DB, and a serious connection to be able to move it all in a reasonable night? Doesn't sound like much of a problem there. ;)

I know. I'm practicing for one day becoming management. ;) Still need to become more clueless though...
