Here's a full track. The new version of Painless.

It's the least ridiculous track on the EP.

Thanks Rob!!!! Cool :D

Does he really sing "Room for you at my new place, David Gray at easy pace"?

Is that the start of Zombie Wedding at the end? It's hillarious. Who is the chimpimpersonator?

24-05-2004, 08:23:16
So come along and show your face
There's room for you in my new place
For daily bread at easy pace
Or stay away and I'll give chase

I was wondering. You don't strike me as a major group of David Gray fans.

24-05-2004, 08:36:18
No. I can't imagine any of us have and David Gray albums.

We wrote a horrifyingly scary intro for Zombie Wedding to play live. We are going to make little children cry at this festival.

It's rather Krautrocky. You've not been listening to a lot of Can and Neu! recently have you?

24-05-2004, 09:19:17
I haven't... Nikhil is half Kraut and likes rock though, maybe that's it?

Scabrous Birdseed
24-05-2004, 09:23:11
If you haven't then maybe you should. :D

Neu! 75 is a good album.

24-05-2004, 09:29:41
You'll make Vincent cry.

I bought Faust IV a few months back, haven't listened to it much though.

Faust sucks.

24-05-2004, 09:32:17
A recommendation. :D

Right, which of you has been going to Art School behind the backs of the other band members?

I suspect Sam.

24-05-2004, 14:23:53
Thought you might say that. We were drunk and in a shitty rehearsal studio with crap amps when we recorded that. We'd also spent the preceding hour and a half arguing with each other.

I think that's half the reason I like it. It seems to capture us relieving pressure and clearing the angry air with music. If that doesn't sound to pretentious.

24-05-2004, 14:25:21
The plan was to see if we could write a song with one chord.

24-05-2004, 14:46:27
Pete's been doing a joint honours degree in Drama and Performing Arts at King Alfred's College Winchester for 3 years, does that count as Art School?

I really like Lamb Boy Dog Pig, it's really, really fun to play.

I ask 'cause every new song you write appears to be some kind of art-rock.

24-05-2004, 14:58:19
art rock?

hmm. Normally "art" in a music genre actually means "terrible".

24-05-2004, 15:03:48
Chimpcopter is Art Rock?

24-05-2004, 15:04:15
Oh, you probably haven't heard chimpcopter. What others are art rock?

Scabrous Birdseed
24-05-2004, 15:57:59
Well, both Lamb... and Painless certainly border on it.

24-05-2004, 15:59:49
Lamb is certainly quite art rock, although I'm not allowed to call it that or Rob goes a bit purple, kind of the same as we're not allowed to use the M word or the I word.

As do Chimpcopter and Zombie Wedding for that matter. Great work SU.

Yup, those are the three best songs, but the rest are good too! Great work.

24-05-2004, 19:08:09
Lamb is very good. I think it is the SU track i have heard which would most likely interest a record label or independent radio. It's the most interesting, unique thing SU have ever done imho.

Chimpcopter is cool too, for similar reasons.

Maybe i'm over-familiar with hundred years and zombie wedding but they don't really do it for me - or to put it another way, they don't meet the standards set by the other two. That's a backhanded compliment i guess, because lamb and chimp are far and away the most interesting things SU have ever done, and i think would be more attention-grabbing to somone who had never heard of you guys before.

24-05-2004, 19:34:07
Difficult to know how much is overfamiliarity (as you mentioned) but those two are my favourites too.

Chimpcopter is very funky!

26-05-2004, 19:24:42
A small note about the website. In the Magic Helmet lyrics, two verses seem to be missing, which they exist in the downloadable song. I don't know if this is what was intended just thought I'd mention it.

27-05-2004, 08:25:21
Thanks... I'll look into that. I might have got distracted.

116 downloads of Chimpcopter so far!
