Salt by Adam Roberts, i've just finnished reading this book- and it was foo-king brilliant! i dunno how i do it, i just seem to be able to spot the best things to read! and they all remind me of eachover.

Salt reminds me of LeGuins The Dispossessed, thats probably becouse of the anarchist society. Nav first recomended this book to me, its a slightly Alpha Centauri-esque story about the colonization of a planet (whose surface is covered entirely in sodium chloride) by a kind of federation of christian churches- don't let that put you off.

Read it.

I keep telling you - I have a pile of 40+ books waiting to be read, so it is cruel to suggest that I add another to the pile. :p

I have three piles of books: Science Fiction, adventure fiction and popular science. 'The Disposessed' is at the top of the SF pile, so will be attacked soon.

Following your strident entreaty, I have now availed myself of a copy of 'Salt'. I will start reading it in a week or two.
