We could call it On the Counter or Counteract or something.

I'll add my vote to this one.

Bollocks. There aren't enough footy threads to upset the balance of Counterpoint and its just another extra forum to check.

19-05-2004, 19:38:12
There really isn't enough footy threads to warrant a new forum.

aren't not isn't.

I think that with Euro 2004 coming up it might be a good idea... although it'll just leave Counterpoint empty.

I can talk to zmama, Qweeg and people from the Americas on my own.

Use the competition forum.

What's the big deal about having a seperate Sports Forum? Is it really going to annoy you all that much? I know that I'd like to discuss Sports a lot more on CG. The problem si that with the reams of useless spamming that go on, the threads get lost in the spam, and nobody gets to read em. Or maybe they just don't want to, I dunno.

for instance, stuff that's happened recently/happening soon that I wouldn't mind discussing, yet don't bother about, cos it'd just get lost in the Spam:
Super 12 rugby, esp the Final
Aust's tour of Zimbabwe, and the ICC possibly cancelling it (due to:)
Zimbabwe's row with 15 of their players
The FA Cup Final

Well, okay, maybe not Curling. :D

Heck, give it a trial period. If it's not popular enough, then can it. Not like it's going to hurt anyone. There'll still be the reams of copycat and useless spam threads in Counterpoint.

I'd be less likely to read and post in many sports threads if they were 'cut off from the herd'.

Take that as a reason for it to be done if you will.

Here's how I think it could work, if there's enough support for it.

The Competitions forum becomes the Sports forum (due to it being predominantly used for fantasy football). Any gaming threads can be moved to the Games forum. That way we don't create an extra forum.

Personally I'm standing on the fence in this one. I dont really talk about sport that much...

21-05-2004, 09:44:49
Excellent idea.

21-05-2004, 09:48:46
Yeah, fine! Go for it.

And call it counterattack, then it'll be the forum with the coolest name.

21-05-2004, 09:58:47
A nerdboy name you mean.

21-05-2004, 10:03:07
ok how about name suggestions then a vote?

"On the Counterattack"

21-05-2004, 21:28:03
If there is enough interest in seperating out all the sports forum threads to be able to find them all, that's a good reason. But not to just seperate out the soccer/football threads.

21-05-2004, 23:23:40
Yeah, all of them. I wouldn't feel guilty about posting crap about martial arts in the sports forum.

How about:
Counterpoint (leave as is)
Competitions - Counter Attack (becomes the Sports forum)
Games - Counterplay
Music - Counterbeat? Counting the beat?
Film, Fiction and Writing - Counterintelligence
Technoglow (leave as is)
Feature Requests and Site Discussion - Counter Revolution

erm only wanted suggestions for a 'Sports' forum. :)

24-05-2004, 08:24:14
I like counterintelligence. We should change the name of counterpoint to that.

Yup. And "Counterpoint" can be the music forum as it's a musical term. And change the name of the entire site to "This is a really stupid suggestion" please.

So, where's that Sports forum?

I vote for counterfit.

It just works :D

02-06-2004, 20:30:08

Counterfit is definately amusing! :D

12-06-2004, 18:13:51
So is this happening? Nobody has been hassling me to create it. I've only really got time tonight to do it (ie before the england match). I need a crescendo of yes's!

12-06-2004, 19:42:07
Oh go on alright then.

12-06-2004, 21:58:47
Rename the Competitions forum to Counterfit. Sports is the only thing discussed there anyway.

13-06-2004, 19:22:22
I say it's a good idea just to keep the football threads away from my spam threads.
