Very bad first impression. GTA3 and Vice City installed and ran without incident. My DirectX is up to date, and I doubt my video card driver has anything to do with it. To discredit the useless support page at Activision, I'm installing updates, and will shut off all "TSRs" (I know, no such thing in Win2k). I think I wasted $40 because this reminds me so much of Falcon 4 when it came out.

What video card and what is the min. requirement for the game (you meet them all, correct)? Any specific message or a straight dump?

What do you have resident in memory that may not like it? AV, Firewall, System Monitor, etc.

I was wrong. Installing the latest ATI drivers fixed it. The game requires not just DirectX 9, which I already have, but DX9 compliant drivers. I was using DX8.1 compliant drivers. So far the game hasn't crashed, and the drivers appear stable.

The game is lots of fun. Especially for those who enjoy Vigilante missions in GTA3. I'm thinking of creating an evil character to see what parts of the story I'm missing by being good.

If the game doesnt work. Install the latest drivers. Very obvious thing to do. :D

when was the last time you installed drivers for the card? They come out with around 10 a year - to have one that is only D8 compliant, that must be about 2 years minimum in age.

It's a Radeon 9000. I think the old drivers are from 2002.
