For all of you that have given up waiting..

Don't be suprised if there is movement shortly.
The grapevine is quivering with rumour at the moment. Nothing definite...... BUT..

What? No way!

Star Dock has been asked by many fans to do a Stars! remake recently. I don't think that is going to happen though since The Head FrogBoy is talking about doing either a MoM or Star Control sequel.

I don't believe it.

The fact that they've had a "finished product" in the can for more then 2 years has made us cynical.

What would Star Dock, who I know nothing about, have to do with a stars! remake..
Last I heard the rights holders, using Xplosive, were still selling adequate copies to keep it in production.

I would think that anyone who considered it abandonware would get a rude awakening.

As to the "finished product"....

A barely playable beta, to my knowledge, hardly qualifies as such, although the testers, by now should have made a major improvement

The fans of Stars! are just begging for an updating of the game. I doubt Star Dock would even do it. The CEO enjoys playing SF Conquest games, and I think he knows Stars! is still available. I doubt he'd really try to (or a sequel in everything but name), but humans are unpredicatable. Personally, I think he's digging to try and "justify" doing a Star Control type (whether 1, 2, or 3 I don't know, and they are all very different games) as his people have been making a MoM sequel/spiritual descandant for something like 6 months already.

The last news I heard on S!SN was that all Single Player game was done, they were just fine tuning the Multi player game, and were in final negotions with a publisher and server provider. And then it disappeared in the Duke Nukem Forever hole...
