My provider announced it's upgrading the d/l and u/l speeds. I'll have 2560 Kbit/s down and 384 Kbit/s up. For upload it still sucks, but it don't have much uploading to do anyway.

So what are CG people paying for what connection? Students who get bizarro speed connections for free please keep quiet.

*doesn't utter a word, although it isn't "bizarro speed", but rather the same as yours more or less*

It's claimed that I get 3.0Mb/sec download. It's usually in the 1-1.5 area though. Not sure about the upload. All that for 45 dollars a month.

How fast does a connection have to be these days to qualify as really fast?

Wow, you'd think free Net through work would be a decent speed. But 53k??

Sir Penguin

That's pretty darn decent for 56Kbps dialup.

Can we lie and say that Sonic Undermind have been played on your station in our propaganda literature?

Ah, that sounds familiar.

I did have a close call the other day though. We got the neighbors mail stating DSL had been set up in his house. I checked the address twice to make sure they hadn't made a really wonderful mistake, but alas, I'm still on dialup.

I get between 52k and 54k generally, depending on the modem and O/S I'm using at the time. Advantage of living in a small town? Who knows?

Free for students at OSU. If I actually want to download something, I use the fast connection in my office at work.

I've done a couple of speed tests on the 'net and it appears I've been upgraded to 8 Mbps.

575 kbps up and down, 19.99/month

I know thats an odd speed - its meant to be 512 but for some reason I always get 575...

I don't pay anything. I'm a cheap bastard who uses either the uni computers or the internet connection at my parents' place that my brother pays for. :smoke:
