Sure, I'd do it. I am currently beta testing Neocron.

Actually it doesn't matter, I've got enough work to do as it is.

I'm interested, not sure how much time I have to dedicate to it at the moment though. I've been following the game a bit. LaserSquad was a cool game.

X-Com was such a damn good game. I'm super busy right now, but if you need another person I think I could find the time to help.

Sure thing. I have free time and an interest in this type of game. I don't get home for a couple of days yet, so I wouldn't be able to do anything immediately, but so long as you don't mind waiting until the end of the week, I could definitely contribute something.

First look, and despite being confused as all hell about how to play the damn thing, this is actually quite fun.

Damn missile tanks. Slow and useless.

Anyone want a game? Just download the files from the link at the top and get me to challenge you (you'll need to send me your email address): Ned@paradise.net.nz.

As PBEMs go, this one is definitely worth checking out.

This is fun.

Must get to playing demo.

The client is a free download you just need a subscriber to challenge you to a game. I played Shiny yesterday and it seems fun. Might subscribe myself. $15 for 6 months seems pretty cheap.

It's a reasonable price for how the game is now, and they are trying to make improvements to it.

Must play....too much other stuff to do right now.

It's something you can play whilst surfing CG or whatever. Games take an hour to two hours once you know what you are doing depending on the map size. (which, after 2 games I'm just about working out).

Shiny just experimented on me with a sniper rush and I managed to get a draw by hiding my last man (who had no ammo and nowhere to resupply) in a bunch of trees. He found me on the last turn but didn't have time to shoot me. *phew*So the result was a draw. Nice thing is that as it's PBEM you don't have to play all in one go could play a turn or two a day but it's pretty quick to get turns off.

Next up Mechs vs. Mechs.

It's good, you can get some really varied feelings in the battles due to the diferent natures of the two sides. I've had games that felt like Command and Conquer tank battles, and others that go down to the wire with the last couple of infantry on each side fighting it out.

It's a great beer and pretzels game, for when you don't have time to start a full three hour marathon mission in Disciples2 or something, but you still want to play something. Mike and I were chatting away on ICQ the whole time during that game (though you can taunt/chat with your opponents in game as well).

Once they add the aliens and clear up a few problems with the stability, the visual contact rules, and the interface, it will definitely be worth the price, and a lot more.

Review sometime soon when I have gotten my uni enrollment/old landlord problems sorted out.

Yeah, there are some problems. Number one being the lack of information about the units and their relative strengths. It's easier to work out with Shiny talking me through things as we are playing but as a newbie it'd be tough to get started I think. First game I picked a load of grunts which are pretty crap units because I didn't know any better.

Client does crash every so often (usually just as you've given all your orders  ) but each turn is fairly quick to go through.
