Radiohead (five nominations) and the White Stripes (four) lead a small army of pretentious, overrated, "hip" acts competing for the NME Awards next month. So no change there then.

Fucking NME.

Most of these bands could have released nothing in years and still be nominated.

Are these nominated by writers or the public?

Public I think.

Well, "public" as in "tossers that waste their money on NME every week"...

I have a very love/hate thing with NME.

I still buy it in the hope it will be good, but it never is anymore. My enjoyment now is to buy it every week, read it in about 5 minutes (because I've never heard of any of the bands), then spend the rest of the day moaning about how shit it is now.

That reminds me, it's Wednesday today.

I do the same but without bothering to buy it or read it.

I also do exactly that. NME's got so forgetable lately that sometimes* I buy it on the wednesday and read it in 5 minutes then put it down and forget about it, only to buy the same issue again on saturday morning on my way to work and read it in 5 minutes, only this time with a weird feeling of deja vu.

*ok, it only happened once
