Since Funko is doing "I just listened to" threads I thought I'd do one on the Bad Brains best of which I just borrowed from the library. It's, er, certainly interesting... Hardcore is not really my thing and the messiness annoys me but some of the pieces among the widely strewn gravel are very nice indeed.

They were utterly mental. "I against I" is a headfucker.

Love them, have all their stuff (pre-new singer).
HR "Throat" was known to beat the fuck out of people with the mic stand if it pleased him. How they all went from Jazz trained musicians to Reggae Punk I'll never know, but I'm glad they did.

Aye - memorable music they made.

They were brilliant. I love most of their hardcore and reggae stuff that I know of, from what I've heard their slower metal songs are not quite as good. Almost put 'em on this version of LWP, but decided against it since the song I paired it with was a fairly short hardcore song as well.

I went with the "kinder, gentler" BGH songs, which I'm sure comes as a huge shock to most of you.
I need to dig out my Bad Brains tapes (yes, tapes) and give them a play or two...really great, unique stuff...highly recommended to anyone into metal, punk, reggae (as long as you're no "purist") or the eclectic.

I downloaded a few tracks on the recomendation of Dave Grohl (they're his favourite band). They're not bad, though they sound a little bit dated now.

Yeah, a lot of those really influential hardcore bands do.
