Yesterday when I was getting my copy of bf1942, my g/f was stunned about paying me 50 euro for a game. But 10 seconds later she said she would prefer to have a nintendo, since they had more fun games for her, apparantly. I was really surprised and almost bought one immediately (since they have the MOH RS :D ) But from what I saw, the console is cheaper, but the games are more expensive than pc or PS2.

But does anyone know if a Nintendo is any good? What are the controls like, is the gameplay like a PS2?

Your opinions and experiences here please.

The controller is a bit smaller so it might fit your girlfriend's hands a bit better.
Buying consoles is all about the games...if you like the games you buy that console.

They are really good fun. I haven't got one but there are some great games. Traditionally they've always been much more fun/cute arcadey game orientated than any other console.

Whatever it takes to get her playing more games. :D She uses the pc mainly for chatting on MSN with her friends. So if I can get her to be more favourable towards computer games (and her playing on a TV console), I'll get more time playing on the pc as well.

Thats the one of the reasons I went for a PS2 instead really. No GTA etc games on the Nintendo. They're very family orientated.

and yet goldeneye appeared on the nintendo 64...

although that comment is true in principle i'll admit, but equally the gamecube isn't cursed with 6 zillion dreadful shooter clones or monster truck sims or trash like bmx xxx

i'd imagine nintendo would say that they stand above all for quality

So buy her one! :D
At least here there is a special Zelda bundle that is being packaged with the console right now.
And you may want to get the wavebird wireless controller to go with it. Works great!

I would love to spend my evenings playing games together, her on tv and me on the pc. Moving the pc to the living room because of the cold in the studyroom might have been a good move!

And you get Link as a character in Soul Caliber 2.

Yeah but it's funny to watch characters get beat up by a gay, midget elf.

That's fine. Who's Link anyway? (other than a little gay elf).

They cancelled BMX XXX because they thought it wouldn't sell well on Nintendo's "kiddy" console, not because of "quality" concerns.

Zelda is a girl, and girls can't fight.

All that'd prove is you're a little girly-man.

Some outstanding Gamecube-exclusive games:

Eternal Darkness
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Super Monkey Ball (& Super Monkey Ball 2)
Metroid Prime
Mario Kart: Double Dash

Any one (or two) of those is worth the $99 price of the system itself.

I bought the cube this weekend. Mario Kart is pretty fun, just another racer, but with added effects of messing with other people.

So what games are fun for women to play?

zmama

Um... the women here at my house like Zelda and Metroid Prime.

Dunno about your girlfriend though....maybe Mario sunshine?

I think you'll find it's called Mario Kart: Double Dash!! actually. Or as we like to call it Sid Meier's Double Dash!!.

Shit, I forgot Pikmin. Also outstanding, very strange.

F-Zero GX hasn’t been mentioned!

Mario Party should be a good one if you can get a couple of other people and four controllers. In fact, four controllers are pretty much the minimum required for any multiplayer Gamecube game.
