I've not heard it. I feel blessed.

A brilliant excuse to be able to sing about bell ends for three minutes on national radio.

That riff at the beginning is straight out of Brian May's song book.

I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me.

Yes, it's really "growing on me" to.

Gramercy Riffs

....sorry

The Darkness - Cheese-pop masquerading as rock.

Funkodrom
15-12-2003, 13:05:28
Er... yeah. Is that supposed to be a revelation? The same as Queen or Iron Maiden or any number of others.

It's easy to knock The Darkness, but when I hear or see them, they make me smile and that'll do for me.

They've never claimed to be the new Radiohead or anything (in fact their cover of Street Spirit is much better than the original)

yeah that street spirit cover is very good

shell was telling me that on frank skinner's show the dude from the darkness was talking about all the advertising jingles and stuff he had written. i didn't know anything about that, but it sounds like it was his 'proper job' before the darkness took off

Funkodrom
15-12-2003, 13:17:16
Yeah. He was working on that whilst they were trying to get the band going.

King_Ghidra
15-12-2003, 13:22:07
that must be quite a fun job

imagine what a challenge it would be coming up with a great track for a toilet duck or pantyliners or something

although if you think of that 'woaaahhhhhhhh Bodyform!!! Bodyform for you!!' track, that is quite rock

Apparently he wrote the IKEA jingle, however that goes.

Their Xmas track is ok I suppose, certainly better than that hellish John Lennon cover the Pop Idol gimps have released.

yeah that is really offensive

Funkodrom

Although Kelly and Ozzy have topped it in the fucking appalling Christmas song stakes, and I didn't think that was possible.

I've only heard little clips of that song, but it sounds awful. I read a quote from someone who claimed that after his reacent accident Ozzy might not be able to sing again. "Again?" I wondered...

I would have been really late for work this morning but I was saved by that song coming on Radio 1 and forcing me to get out of bed.

Which is why I listen to Radio 1 in the morning, I know it's only a matter of time before a song comes on that is bad enough to force me to get out of my lovely warm comfy bed.

He sounds confused even when he sings.

Funkodrom

How it got to #1 I'll never know. The singing is horiffic. 2 people who can't sing auto-tuned heavily over the most hideous arrangement. It's not even a good song if sung well.

Isn't it a cover of an old Sabbath track?

Funkodrom
15-12-2003, 14:50:13
Yes. The shittest Sabbath track I've heard, by a long long way. Although I haven't heard any of the stuff after Ozzy left.

King_Ghidra

the only track i've heard by sabbath without ozzy is called heaven and hell and i think it's great

however i might add i also liked the original version of changes

Funkodrom
15-12-2003, 15:01:21
I automatically skip it when it comes on We Sold Our Souls to Rock and Roll.

King_Ghidra
15-12-2003, 15:23:45
i don't have either of those tracks on my version of that album...

Funkodrom
15-12-2003, 15:32:41
Ah, you're right. I was talking about Changes but it must be on another sabbath album.

I didn't actually know which song they'd done. I was hoping against hope it would be a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's Lemon Incest.

I like "Changes".
