Product Web Site: http://www.antelopetech.com/

What it is: A full Windows XP machine in a package smaller then many PDAs. It's all modular, so you can dock it with a PDA shell, to have a handheld while on the go, and dock it into a peripherial station when you get home/in the office to use it as your main machine with a real keyboard, monitor, mouse, and network. Lots of toys to go with it...

When it goes on sale: Nov 7.

I know what I want for Christmas! The Geek Factor has to be at least a G8 on this. 10 if you get the hands free walk around package/add ons. ;)

It isn't as nice looking as the OQO version, which I have been drooling over for a year now :)

Whether it performs better is of course another matter entirely.

But it's good to see some real portable mini PCs coming out. It's about bloody time!

Antelope is ahead of the OQO, apparently by at least 6 months, if not more, from what little I've been able to piece together.

I've been watching BOTH of these products. I've really gotten to like having a small Pocket PC, but the fact that half of Office isn't really supported natively (like, Word), really irritates me. Especially in this day and age of easy to transfer media (Secure Digital, Flash, PCMCIA Hard Drives, etc). So I am definately looking seriously at either machine... with an eye for something that can go back from PDA to tablet to laptop. Big Box should be a serious game machine, and these (Ant and OQO) are definately meant for less entertaining functions. ;)

I bet they'll run Doom 2. It's not the latest, but it's still fun. :)

Civ2... Alpha Centauri... Galactic Civilizations... Railroad Tycoon...

Plenty of fun games you don't need bleeding edge to enjoy.

You know, I'm still thinking about buying the Antelope... wonder when they are going to stop offering their "Desktop and handheld" mix, and let you order what you want... :D

Maybe after Christmas... ;)
