It's worth the money but it is not something exceptionally brilliant, although I suppose it will mean more to eastern and western Germans. But the director/writer has been kind enough to not include too many in jokes in the movie like Kusturica's Underground where you were left guessing half of the time. From there on I think that the film went a bit too "mainstream" meaning that half of what we saw, we already expected it.

Some moments of Good bye Lenin are filled with hillarity though (and brought back memories from when we visited west and east Berlin when I was a kid so extra points for that) and it really is a very funny and mildly original film. The acting is very good.

In short I think you can do a lot worse than going to see this film compared to the others that play on the theaters now.
