How would Venom and I record a radio show style thing in real time?

We've both got microphones and broadband attached to our PCs but live in different countries.

And we're complete morons so it has to be relatively simple (like us).

Yeah. Nerds give help now. We'll make girls like you if you provide working advice.

Except for Asher, we'll make people respect Microsoft if he helps us.

Check this one out:
http://www-mice.cs.ucl.ac.uk/multimedia/software/rat/

The Robust Audio Tool (RAT) is a an open-source audio conferencing and streaming application that allows users to particpate in audio conferences over the internet.

And from the FAQ

How to record audio files?

bring up the Options panel from the Main Window.
Click inside the "Rec file" text box and type the name of your file, e.g. foo.dat.
Click Start to commence recording.
Click Stop to cease recording.

The recorded file, foo.dat, contains raw data of the audio samples you have received during a session. At the time of writing RAT uses 16-bit 8-kHz mono linear PCM. We are moving towards variable sampling frequencies and stereo sound.

How to replay the recorded audio files?

To replay the sample you will need an audio program that can play raw data, or you will need a program that can place a header on the raw data so that your audio program can read the data. We use Sun's audioconvert program, but recommend Sound eXchange for more general audio file conversion.

It all sounds a little complicated to me, but you might want to bear it in mind until a real nerd turns up with an easier solution.

Does RealPlayer have a feature like the one you want? DanQ at apolyton records that radio show thing of his and the files are in RealAudio format.

Can netmeeting record?

Funkodrom
08-10-2003, 14:46:00
I have a netmeeting icon on my computer.

Maybe I'll try clicking it when I get home.

Funkodrom
08-10-2003, 14:46:43
Yeah, can netmeeting record?

Is there anything that isn't Microsoft?

fp

Use google you fucktards!

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=%2Fsupport%2Fnetmeeting%2Ffaq%2F nm_faq.asp

Can I record any part or all of NetMeeting sessions including audio, video, and the activity that occurs in shared applications?

Currently, NetMeeting does not enable recording of NetMeeting conferences.

:(

no girls please?

Nevermind, got it.

Sounded like Venom was threatening to surgically alter us if we help him, so I got confused and ignored his post.

Happens more and more, these days.

That first thing FP linked looks like it'll do what we want, and just need a DAT to something else converter. Should be a free one on the net.

Anything easier?

I'm disappointed by the nerd turnout.

Do you think we should have offered more girls?

I know of software that goes from several file types to DAT for recording, but don't know of any that do the opposite. Try google. Software DAT to (the format you need) converters or something like that.

I guess just saying girls wasn't enough. These nerds needed exact figures. And probably some graphs.

Well I already have one, so I have no incentive to actually try... So that bothers the question, why the fuck am I helping out?

Check out Boomer v4.0 at http://www.gfx2swf.com/ - it does streaming audio through Shockwave files. Does a bunch of other stuff too, but this is what you'll be using it for. It's supposed to work well even through 56k, but you'd want to have broadband for broadcast if you get too many people hitting it (and what are the chances of that? :D )

I know of at least one professional newcast program that's been served by Boomer. Go check it out.

And I'll pass on the girls thing too, but I'll accept pizza donations any time :)

I know RealAudio can CAPTURE and replay streaming media...

I think turn out is low because people haven't noticed CG is back yet.

Is CG getting a recorded streamed radio/audio of Funko and Farto then?
