Just sent mine to Sean.

Realised I have made a retarded error on one of the guesses once I listened to the rest of the tracks. :)

You guessed me for a song on the first half of the CD then listened to the second half?

Perhaps you withdrew them because of the error? Yes, no?

Sent again with embarassing error changed. Any remaining embarassing errors were deliberate ironic jokes.

Yeah, what does it do?

Sean
24-09-2003, 11:44:38
When you receive the reviews from people, put them in a set of text files. Run the script and it puts them together for each track in a separate set of files.

How does it tell which song is which? Everyone uses different markers for each track. Doesn't sound like it does much of the stuff that I do when I recieve each set of reviews. Plus I always keep it in one big file. Probably pass, thanks. :)

Sean
24-09-2003, 12:12:55
I put in a special case for each style of marking them.

Don't listen to Mike. Infernal Love is a piece of shit (well, half of it is), and although it has a couple of good songs it is the Therapy? album to avoid. The best introductions are the compilation So Much For The Ten Year Plan and Troublegum, although most of their albums are pretty good (except Infernal love and err, what's it called, Shameless).

Am I the only one who thought this section wasn't actually all that bad? Sure, a couple of shit songs, but I liked several of them as well.

Scabrous Birdseed
24-09-2003, 12:35:24
I thought it was the least bad section so far, the heart CD was really bland throughout.

I said most Therapy fans consider it their best album and I think that's true.

The Shaker

I agree with Bas. 10 year plan and Troublegum are Brill. I thought they waned afterwards...although I always though church of noise was an alright track.

Funkodrom
24-09-2003, 12:52:49
10 year plan is a 'best of' released 5 years after Infernal Love. I think the tracks from Infernal Love on there are Stories and Diane.

Mr. Bas
24-09-2003, 13:00:33
True, but their best of is pretty damn good. What better place to start?

I really like some of their later albums (especially high anxiety and semi-detached) although they're not as consistently good as the first three albums (I'm counting caucasian psychosis=babyteeth+pleasure death as one). High anxiety is the best thing they've done since troublegum though imo.

I think I had the wrong expectations about the types of songs most people would be submitting for this, but I've so far only run against one or two things that I would actively avoid. Granted, they're both in this section, but...

In the end, the only real reason I participate in these is to get exposure to new things, so I'm happy. I got 'Neon Golden' by The Notwist from the other LWP I was in, and I'll probably check out Therapy? from this.

Semi-detached runs hot and cold for me.
It does feel like they put a lot of fillers on it.

Still not many bands consistently put out high quality packed albums.
Only Maiden as far as I know.

Funkodrom
24-09-2003, 13:15:13
My favourite album is Troublegum, second favourite would be Nurse. :)

Basically we seem to all agree that Troublegum is a classic?

I know.

Diane is a good song, spoilt by one of my old housemates buying the single and playing it on repeat for a week solid.

This section surprised me because when i listened to it initially i thought it was all shite. Listening to it again it might even be my favourite.

Some good reviews in there as well :D
Laz's refrain of 'At least it's not track 4' and Debaser's review of track 2 as 'I imagine this is the kind of song that evil clowns would listen to' gave me a good chuckle.
As for Laz's actual review of Track 4, well, i will never forgive him for that mental image.

Funny how many of us wanted to hate track 7 but couldn't. I guess that's quite a result by Iain's standards :D

Ever hear the alternate version that was released as a b-side on one of the Semi-Detached era singles?

Personally I really liked Infernal Love and consider it to be the last consistently interesting album they've released. Everything since then has been a bit patchy, with some songs that definitely feel like filler - particularly when you consider how great their earlier records were.

Funkodrom
24-09-2003, 14:00:14
*EiF* Good to see you are overriding your predjudices and listening to something that isn't Emo. :)

BigGameHunter
24-09-2003, 15:26:00
Jeezus...I really don't understand you people. No offense, EIF, but Sublime is a quite laughable band among my peers here.
It would, I suppose, be our version of "emo". Rather gutless Top 40 type music. And I'm deeply, deeply hurt that zmama would think I actually chose that as my song!
Hmmmm....quite a mixed bag on this round.

Funkodrom
24-09-2003, 15:28:37

And there's still that question mark for Athens. And there isn't a venue named "?" if anyone was wondering. Grrrrr......
I hope the organizers do not fuck it up. Also it is a bit more difficult to come to Greece lately since most of the time bands need to take the boat from Italy to get here. It isn't safe to travel through the Balkans. I hope this has changed though.
