No more Championship Manager! Well there will be one more by Sports Interactive published by Eidos, CM 03/04 due for the 'fourth quarter'.

Eidos will take the Championship Manager name and develop an 04/05 edition in-house. Sports Interactive retain the player database and source code. They will announce their plans early next year.

Talk about misguided greed by Eidos, they've really put their foot in this one...

What's the point of keeping the name if SI keep the database and source code? :hmm:

Interested to see what SI come up with next.

I can't see anything good coming out of this. Will 03/04 really be the best ever?

If SI keep the database and source code then it should be OK - that's 99% of the game of course. They'll have publishers beating down their door to sign up to distribute "ChampMan04/05" (although it'll be called something totally different of course).

No doubt a game called "Championship Manager 5" will be released in about 18 months by Eidos and it will suck some royal ass.

Maybe SI will do something new.

They already have some ties with the PES guys. Or is that too much to hope for.

Keeping the name is smart for all the stupid people out there that won't realize until too late that it's not going to be the same CM as usual. And good for Sports Interactive, Eidos wasn't good for them.

Personally, I am no longer surprised by any of Eidos' idiocy.

Bunch of assclowns.

I wouldnt be surprised if there is some kind of clause saying that SI can't publish another football title for x months/years....

If Eidos tries to publish a game under the CM banner it will ruin that name for all time.

Eidos *will* try to publish a game with the CM name. Count on it. That's why they kept the name.

Dumbest. Move. Ever. By. Eidos.

Maybe they are hoping to do Civ 4 as well? ;)

I just wonder how long SI has to wait before they can make a new CM type game? I think they'll have some restrictions against that for a while...

They could sell the code and the datbase to Sprots Interactive, a mysterious new start-up.
