Saw this one. It is actually not as bad as I expected. Not bad at all, really. Just a fun movie, very entertaining. Johnny Depp's role is pretty funny.
Only thing that was weird was to see the tall guy from the series Coupling play a lawfull british officer. The skinny guy from The Office played in it as well.

The "hero" was repulsively nice though wasnt he? I was sickened by the scenes at the end when he got the girl...

Well, yeah, but I expected the whole film to be like that. That one quick minute at the end didn't bother me that much.

This other forum I frequent claims they nicked several key characters/plot ideas from the Monkey Island series of games. Both are based on the same Disneyland ride so I'm not sure they're right.

I was pleasantly surprised as well

Depp steals it, he's the funniest pirate drag keen I've ever seen

Yeah - his permanently stoned/pissed act is quite funny

Quite fancy Keira Knightley... there's a name that's going to be big.

But not as big as:

llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch

...which is Welsh for something or other.

Or of course this classic from New Zealand:

Thoroughly enjoyable, much-better-than-it-ought-to-have-been film, I caught this a month or so ago and had a blast. It reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark in it's tone and style, though it fell a bit short on substance. Still, a great adventure movie as long as you don't go into it expecting great drama or anything too original.

Depp steals the movie, though I thought Geoffrey Rush did a nice job as well. Lots of nice quotes and scenes from both of them.

The scene of the pirates walking underwater to storm the naval ship was a genuine 'wow!' moment, too. Lots of movies have big set pieces that impress, but this is the first in a while that generated a tingle down my spine.

"Quite fancy Keira Knightley..."

The bit where she first discovers the pirates are zombies (or whatever) and she's getting thrown around all over the ship by them - she looks very sexily vulnerable at that stage

This scene was voted by Rodgers "Worthy of a Quality Masturbation Time"

Saw it today. It was ok, funnier than I expected. Depp was funny. The director seemed to want to catch all audiences... kids and adults alike which sometimes I think meant sacrificing one audience for the other in some moments of the film.

I was trying to remember where was it I saw that actress before and I think it was in Bend it like Beckham? Why does she keep doing that stupid thing with her upper lip? If she had vampire fangs, I'd understand it.

She also plays the pretend Queen in the new Star Wars films.

One of our former Prime Minister's son wrote a small novel which allegendly deals with the excruciating anguish of the human being when he wants to scratch his asshole but can't. I think it's too bad he didn't become a politician too he'd be right at home.

I really hope they don't make it into a movie.

"I'm disinclined to acquiesce your request."

"Means no."

Great line . Great movie. Lots of fun.

Depp was fantastic and he is equally up to the task in Once Upon A Time In Mexico ... with Banderas.
