Then don't look!

See, the blood pressure is already beginning to fall... or maybe that is because Venom has just killed you... oh well.

Well... they denied the rumor that StarCraft 2 was in the works. Sorry Shining1.

That rumour will never ever die.

Blizzard won't announce anything until they finish work on WarcraftIII, and then it's dubious that they would try to cut into that game's success by immediately going on to make Starcraft2. So they might just put resources into WOW, or they might have a go at something else.

Moreover, they are badly caught by the lack of evolutionary direction for the RTS genre - WarcraftIII was meant to mix in an almost HoMM style Heroes system of gaming, but instead has ended up being almost smack back in the center of the current RTS idiom. Fewer units, more special abilities, and the idea is that you get points this time for handholding your units during battle, instead of just having them fight and die while you rush back to your base to queue up the next wing (the dominant strategy in Starcraft).

So, no, no Starcraft2 for a little while yet, although they might just possibly do something more in that universe, especially since they are playing with a 3D FPS engine now.
