View Full Version : Shit Happens (Update on my life)

It all started two weeks ago when I found out my girlfriend was pregnant, anti-biotics and the pill don't work so well together, and she was getting pains in her stomach.

I was pretty worried so took her to Accident and Emergency straight away and they believed it could have been an ectopic pregnancy which if not treated straight away could be fatal. Unfortunately there were not enough doctors in to operate straight away so she was put on a ward and told to wait in the morning.

Her blood pressure was dangerously low all night and finally the morning came. I've never cried in my life but I couldn't hold back the tears as I thought, as did she, she wouldn't be waking up after they aneasthatised her. I was trying to be the strong boyfriend as she wouldn't tell any of her family, strict catholics, that she was pregnant.

The operation was a success and the problem was a sist on the fallopian tube but the problem still remains. She is pregnant and we have to wait four weeks to get an abortion as the fetus is only 4 weeks old.

On top of this I am running out of money, my car is a write off, I have rent to pay and I also have a re-sit examination in September I have to pass to get through to next year.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this with you guys as sometimes an anonymous voice is much more comforting.

I'll try and check this thread next time I have internet access. Take care.

Oh man, it seems to be pouring on you right now. At least she is OK.

Do you have alternatives for finances?

Cheer up - at least you're not pregnant.

That bites...big time. Sit down, get your priorities straight and tackle this shit with an eye to the future, as a couple years from now, it will all seem relatively trivial.

And buy some rubbers.

What about your parents - I know asking them for money for an abortion isn't the easiest of things to do, but you may have to. If you want be that strong boyfriend, you may have to take the ass chewing that may come with it among other things.

I've been there before, so I know you must be going through some serious hell right now, so you two are in my prayers. The important thing is that she is alright and your still by her side doing your best, and that is all that you can do.

BGH is right. Sit down and try to think with a level head for a bit, you'd be amazed once you stop panicking sometimes how things fall into place. And as he said, in a few years, this will be a distant memory.

Fuck.

I don't have much else to say, other then:
* Hang in there!
* Try to calm down enough to figure out what your priorities need to be.
* Remember, it will get better.

I read that as a general comment about lack of money. I expect the abortion should be on the NHS. Urgh... sounds wrong talking about money with something like this.

jesus matt, hope things work out for you and the gf

good old nhs anyway, it may be underfunded, overworked or whatever the fuck else is wrong with it, but when you need it, it generally is there for us

Don't exactly know how your health care system works on such matters as abortions, and he was mentioning money problems, so hence why I inserted it - not to be insensitive. Here it's private insurance, your own pocket, or nothing pretty much.

Funkodrom

Yeah, I know, was just for information. I felt insenstive, not that what you said was. Needing money for that would be even worse.

I wasn't sure there, so I was just covering my bases so to speak.

Matt, that sounds rough. I really don't know what words of wisdom I can add to what the others here have said. As far as any of us here are any use and if talking helps then please feel free to bend our ears and we'll offer what advice or consolation that we can.

Smoking 20 cigs a day and playing Pro Evo with my mates whilst drunk every night helped. :)

That night was so scary. Driving over the Pennines in a huge storm with the tiniest amount of petrol was awful. The motorway was empty and I was getting blown between three lanes - plus I hate going over Saddleworth Moor anyway (Brady and Hindley )

Me too. I got to "she wouldn't tell any of her family, strict catholics, that she was pregnant"

And thought "...again?" before checking.
