Dag, yo.

What's the deal with them?

I've heard two of their songs: In the End (Awesome) and One Step Closer.

I really, really like One Step Closer except for that awful "Shut up when I'm talking to you!" that they scream in the middle of it. :clueless:

So, resident music critics, since I like some of their songs surely you think they're crap. What's your take on them?

Shite nu-metal chancers, but more listenable than either Limp Bizkit or Papa Roach. They have a few songs that you can jump about to in a club when you're drunk, but beyond that, I can't say I'm impressed.

I don't like Limp Bizkit or Papa Roach, but I like those two songs.

Dont think I'll buy the album though.

Pop band that use guitars. I'd rather listen to them than a pop band that doesn't use guitars.

They are also the least funny people you'll ever see interviewed.

I think they're posers, the music sounds very artificial.
I don't like the generic rap vocal parts, it's annoying, reminds me of german dance music.
They're using too much lo-fi vocals and drums patterns, it's an annoying gimmick after the 2. song, it doesn't really work if used as effect. Too much gimmicks anyway.

Like I said, pop with guitars. ;)

Bought the album when I couldn't get In the End out of my head. It's OK, listenable, but not up there on my favourites list

The dividing line between Linkin Park and Jimmy Eat World is razor-thin.

In a way I suppose. They are both pop with guitars, one doesn't bother with pointless rap vocals and gimmicky drum patterns.

The difference is that people will still listen to Jimmy Eat World in 10 years time.

It sounds like a mixture of samples of 70s electro pop band, 80s rap band and 90s metal band.

I think they're good at what they do.

They are a mainstream band and for easy listening rap/"rock" I think they have a good blend.

The problem is most people that listen to the rap/rock stuff don't want mainstream easy listening stuff their parents might then start whistling after hearing it form their bedrooms.

'Cause let's face it this genre is blatantly for 14 yr olds with lots of teen angst.

Hmph. What happened to Mogwai and their ‘grrrrr’ )? Surely the noise, or the anticipation of noise, plus the absence of vocals of any sort, especially god-awful ‘rap’, should make them number one for anyone wanting to go ‘grrrrr’ in an angsty way. And few parents could whistle the end of My Father My King.

Mogwai are still around aren't they?

Own goal, Mike.

They’re still around, but sort of bumbling under most people’s musical radars—the pretty aimless Rock Action didn’t help that.

Was a genuine question. I thought I'd read something about them recently but you are right, they've gone off the scopes a bit.
