View Full Version : Battlestar Galactica remake will SUCK

14-07-2003, 15:30:58
One of the stars, Edward Almos, is actively encouraging fans to NOT watch. He is actually telling people to go buy the DVDs and put those on whenever the Miniseries is on TV.

14-07-2003, 15:35:08

I didn't know they were remaking it.

14-07-2003, 16:19:52
Sci-Fi channel mini-series so far. Supposed to act as a potential pilot for a new series. From what I've read it's going to be crap. They apparently avoided all insight and suggestions from the people who used to do the show.

So this isn't the version that Richard Hatch or whatever his name was working on? (supposedly)

14-07-2003, 20:08:20
There was a huge fight between him and another group. He lost.

14-07-2003, 20:46:43
Most of the teasers for it that I've seen really sucked. Would help if the ships didn't feature the word tyco so promentinently. :D

14-07-2003, 21:30:59
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

I loved BG and was hoping for Richard Hatch to be successful in his endeavours...:(

That's Sci-Fi's official BG site.
Look for yourself, if you care.

15-07-2003, 00:45:02
It's nice to see them selling BG swag, only 6 months before the show.

15-07-2003, 02:16:30
I hear and obey.

15-07-2003, 12:01:05
Maybe it's just a plot to get more people to buy the DVDs.

starbuck and boomer have both changed sex?????

15-07-2003, 14:22:11

Ok... so threesomes featuring bored Apollo, Star Buck, and Boomer out at far flung sentry posts? Not on SF! :D

Wow! Boomer changed sex and skin tone! Pretty good! So... Starbuck and Boomer are going to be a lesbian couple? Make up for the lost Starbuck and Andromeda (The Courtesan) line from the original?

I can just see the series though... Star Bucky and Apollo will do that X-File/Moonlighting thing... dating lots of sexy aliens and human castaways, while dreaming of each other...

On a scale of 1 to 10 of suckiness, how much is this BG going to suck? I say... 8! ;)

15-07-2003, 16:55:58
I say turn the suck-o-meter up to 11.

15-07-2003, 17:05:43
DAMN! 11! Doesn't that take, like ZERO babe-age in a sucky movie to get an 11? Surely we are going to get some tight spandex shots of the ladies from behind, with maybe a dental floss wearing decomtamination cream rub down scene?

15-07-2003, 17:28:03
If it does I'll be pleasantly suprised.

And a little update on Edward Olmos' comments. He apparently said this at a press event with the Vice President of the Sci-Fi channel (Bonnie Hammer who is a devil bitch) sitting right there. It's really worth it to go and try and dig up the entire article. So far I've gotten pieces of it from multiple locations and it's hilarious.

17-07-2003, 21:58:33
If you find the full thing, please share the link with us! Sounds like it would be worth reading through it!

18-07-2003, 01:54:24
If you go to sci-fi's battlestar forum you can find links out the yang, about 30 media outlets have picked it up. Greatest stuff I've ever seen. Fuck Bonnie Hammer.

19-07-2003, 16:18:13
What's she look like? ;)

I can't think of any miniseries I liked on SciFi other than the Dune remakes. I'm biased in favor of all things Dune, though.

19-07-2003, 20:39:31
Considering how bad all other Dune properties have been, it was easy for Sci-Fi to make something ok.

I don't about you, but I remember seeing BG toys in the stores and thinking "what the hell is a colonial transport" several months be I'd even heard of BG.

02-08-2003, 10:18:20
Mr. Irate Monk, I do not remember seeing any BG toy in the store before seeing BG. But then, I was very young back then, and it would not be a significant event to me at the time.

Did anyone else see the "trailers" and "teasers" this past Friday they ran with the Tremors show? Ugh.

They admit they are out for the steamy sex, which is why Star Buck is a gal. And Boomer is a gal. So they can bounce Apollo and be jealous of each other.

And now Cylons are human. Hidden in the remains of the humans that are flying with BSG. So they can do that 7 of 9 thing and The Thing as well. Whee!

No wonder the stars and producers are panning it.

And you can STILL see the Tyco on their starships.

I wonder if this is going to be so bad, it's funny?

10-08-2003, 08:36:05
what on earth is Tyco?

10-08-2003, 12:56:54
The real question is, What the fuck were you doing watching Tremors?

11-08-2003, 06:43:44
I've been watching Tremors, when there hasn't been anything else on. It's not bad, as background noise.

11-08-2003, 12:20:15
People like you are the reason Farscape was cancelled.

11-08-2003, 23:44:49
Hey, I supported Farscape! I liked Farscape, although it went downhill for the last couple of seasons.

Tremors is funny. It's difficult for them to get worse... it's already so screwed in its premises they really don't have any further they can drop.

12-08-2003, 01:41:24
Just like I'm gonna kill Sci-Fi, I'm gonna kill the people that watch Sci-Fi too. Especially Tremors.

12-08-2003, 01:49:57
Kill Sci-Fi? Sure... but they'll have SF2 and SF3 by the time your can overcome your natural laziness and get out of your Easy-Boy recliner to start killing Sci-Fi.

Keep dreaming, Easy-Boy.

I found the toys!

I had the first two.

...and now that I see them, I was actually thinking "what the heck is a Colonail Scarab?"

07-11-2006, 16:42:22
Hmmm, humble pie anyone...?:cute:

07-11-2006, 16:46:51
Haha, great read. How wrong they were!

07-11-2006, 16:48:20

07-11-2006, 17:24:59
Hey, Tremors still sucked. And so did Stargate.

07-11-2006, 20:01:28
Two out of three is not that bad.

07-11-2006, 20:09:14
I'd be a great baseball player with that percentage. unless it was fielding percentage. Then I'd be terrible.

interesting article (and always a great thread to post it in)

They went one better and married different people. Aliens, bah, good old human adultery for the ratings

It's slightly belated, but the end of series 3 was a total headfuck. If there was one thing I wasn't expecting, it was for it all to go a bit psychedelic and Bob Dylan.

27-06-2007, 19:27:22
Ah good to see this thread again. If only to say that the remake is, finally, starting to suck.

28-06-2007, 09:27:41
the jury is still out, I give them the benefit of the doubt

but it was really more about the article than digging the thread
