Why is peanut butter good for you?
Peanut butter is good for you because it is high in protein, carbohydrates and fibre. Fibre helps control blood sugar levels and may help reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood. Peanut butter is also cholesterol free. Peanut butter is digested quite slowly so it provides lasting energy. It also means that peanut butter can be helpful in weight-loss programs.

Nutrients Based on 100 grams of Peanut Butter
Fat 52.6 g
Protein 23.1 g
Carbohydrates 17.6 g
Calcium 34 mg
Phosphorous 334 mg
Potassium 487 mg

Fat
Some people are concerned about the level of fat in peanut butter. Fat is the most concentrated source of energy in your diet and is a vital nutrient because it helps carry the fat soluble vitamins A, D and E around the body and helps maintain healthy skin.
It is important to know that there are two kinds of fat, saturated (bad fat) and unsaturated (good fat). It may interest you to know that 80% of the fat in peanut butter is unsaturated fat or good fat which means it can lower your blood cholesterol level.

Protein
Protein is needed for the growth and repair of muscles, skin, hair and blood cells. Kraft Peanut Butter is a fine example of a high quality protein meal when combined with bread.
One tablespoon of peanut butter in a sandwich at lunch will provide a total of 10 g of protein (5 g from the peanut butter). This is almost half the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) of protein for children aged 4-7 years and one quarter the RDI for children aged 8-11 years.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are a source of energy for the body needed by all energetic kids.

Calcium
Calcium is needed by the body to grow strong, healthy bones and teeth.

Phosphorus
Phosphorus is fundamental to the growth and maintenance of bones and teeth.

Potassium
Potassium is needed to ensure the body's water balance and creates protein by helping to release the energy from the nutrients we consume.

Nutritional energy equivalents
1 kg of peanut butter is equivalent in energy value to:

2 kg beef
1.5 kg of cheddar cheese
5 litres of milk
36 medium eggs

Study that carefully, you heathens.

Dyl Ulenspiegel
