Okay, hopefully i've got this right.

2 songs each, 'head' and 'feet' (I think, I lost track)

No time limit, but I reserve the right to trim/destroy a track which is taking the piss AND too long to fit on the CDs.

*****copy from Scabby*******

1. Each participant submits 2 tracks. Theme is one from the heart, one for the feet. In other words one track that means something to you emotionally, one that makes you want to dance (addendum: or drive really fast on a racecourse).
2. There is no time limit but don't be a dick about it. If you pick two 30 minute tracks just because you can we'll call you names and stuff.
3. Clearly state which track is the "feet" track and which is the "heart" track.
*****end copy from scabby********

Submitters have a choice of One CD of MP3s or 3 of Audio.

Currently I have

Submission details......and here's where the arguements start again.

Personally I think that you should send the songs as WAVs
and I can covert them for those that want MP3s.
As sean said before, we don't want to be going MP3 WAV MP3.
But then I aint too hot on this old electronic formatty stuff.

You'll probably have to send them on a CD (if it's CD-RW you get it back again with added bonus tracks) to my address Ric Crocker,
31 The Grove, Reading,Berkshire,England RG1 4RB.
Include a return address. Add some cookies. Don't forget to put the correct number of stamps on.

Who else is in 'merica apart from zmama, BHG and Guy?
Guy...I may take you up on your offer of Amerisiding it if there are many more...we'll wait and see.

Deadline is 7 July arbritrary choice. This is negociable until I say otherwise.

Hows that?

You have a short while to argue further and suggest corrections to this random gathering of stuff.
Once I say 'pants' your time is up.

Why pants? Why not "knickers" or "pantaloons"?
You people are so arbitrary!!!

Okey dokey...guess I need to sort out if my PC allows RWing...I think it does, but it was a bit confusing last time.

I am pretty confident that EIF will want audio...

*End Is Forever*
02-06-2003, 21:46:38
I'm tempted to say I want mp3s just to make Rich look rather stupid. However, I would prefer audio. Also, as I'm not home (and therefore sansCD-burner) it'll be the beginning of July before I can get my CD to you anyway...

Funkodrom
03-06-2003, 08:21:11
Sounds good to me Shakey.

Quite a few of the tracks on the last LWP started life as MP3s, I burned them onto CD when I sent them up to Sean. I don' think anyone noticed, so maybe if people are really stuck we could accept the odd mp3?

Scabrous Birdseed
03-06-2003, 09:25:14
Sure, but if you do that send them in as MP3s- that way we won't lose anything in MP3-WAV-MP3 conversion.

King_Ghidra

I was the person who thought of the MP3 thing in the first place. It's amazing how your ideas get taken over isn't it?

Funkodrom
03-06-2003, 11:50:20
I was the one who thought about giving people a choice. Nah nah nah nah. etc.

Funny way of putting it anyway, your idea getting taken over. Do you mean you wanted to compile all the CDs? Or did you really mean it's good that my idea got incorporated with everyone elses. ;)

protein
03-06-2003, 11:53:26
No. I suggested that instead of having a huge triple CD compilation, this time we could have a single CD with lots of MP3s on it. It only lasted for about two replies though, everyone thinks MP3s are crap it seems.

Debaser
03-06-2003, 11:59:51
I think most people who want Audio cd's prefer them because they can be played on ordinary CD players or in cars, which is fair enough.

Guy
03-06-2003, 12:11:34
All the above sounds do-able.

Shaker, I would be happy to be the stateside compiler/distributor. Should help control costs/hassle all around. I'm pretty sure it's just the three of us, though.

Er... I thought it was a great idea and have voted for it every time it came up. It immediately got added to the options and the discussions carried on in the other thread about mp3s. It's only scabby that really hates them, I think everyone else wants audio cds for normal CD players etc like Debs said. Scabby's just louder than everyone else. :D

I think about two weeks is a reasonable estimate for overseas shipping, so if the deadline is July 7th, then the American songs should be to me by somewhere around June 18th just to give us some time to play with.

PM's away, and don't worry, I've got an awesome chocolate-chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Damn, I come back to find out the date and found I’d got it into my head that it was head and feet. And I had the perfect track but I’m not sure if it, like, means anything to me .

Scabrous Birdseed
09-06-2003, 18:32:04
I've just abandoned my original idea of putting on a feet track about love and a heart track about dancing, mainly 'cos the track I had in mind for the latter is so short it can go on a regular LWP.

However my "head" track is the sound of a paranoid schizophrenic buggering a pig's head in a state of delusional panic, married to a 7/4 backing of sampled stabbings.

Can't find any good mushy ones.
Guess I'm just a cold hearted woman :cute:

Funkodrom
12-06-2003, 13:43:13
They don't have to be mushy exactly, just mean something to you. At least that's the way I interpereted it.

Guy
12-06-2003, 16:02:43
That's how I took it. None of my heart tracks are what I would consider mushy, just personally significant. Two of them I would even classify as angry, though not in a shouting/punk way.

zmama
12-06-2003, 16:16:27
Ah, but that doesn't help me an awful lot because I don't listen to anything that doesn't evoke some kind of passion in me. Life's too short and I'm too old to bother with anything else. ;)

Scabrous Birdseed
13-06-2003, 10:18:40
My problem is finding long heart tracks. The opportunity to put on 5-minute songs has to be seized!

Funkodrom
13-06-2003, 10:21:35
Why?

*End Is Forever*
13-06-2003, 10:29:53
No it doesn't. Surely the whole point of this is to put on your favourite songs regardless of length?

Scabrous Birdseed
13-06-2003, 10:30:49
'Cause I can put all my 2:42 heart songs on a regular LWP. This frees me from the restriction of time and I intend to EVILLY EXPLOIT MY FREEDOM!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well, not quite. My latest choice for Heart song is about four and a half minutes long, my feet song is just over six.

Funkodrom
13-06-2003, 10:31:34
I haven't thought about it yet. I agree with EiF though.

Scabrous Birdseed
13-06-2003, 10:37:53
I can't put my favourite songs on. That'd be really predictable and make the entire "without prejudice" bit meaningless.

The Shaker

Guy--sent at 7pm last night...probably about 5 days out.
Didn't have any jewel cases, but I did include liner notes for BGH Productions disc and a printed/formatted insert for a jewel case.
The LWP disc has the first song as the feet (fists) and the last song as the heart, with songs from both respective albums in between...

Recieved on Friday. New disk with mine and zmama's tracks has been burned. Will heave it across the Atlantic at lunch today, should arrive sometime before next summer. Believe it or not, I did actually make cookies this weekend, but they somehow all ended up getting eaten before I could pack any for shipping. Ah well, it's the thought that counts, right? :)

I did not listen to the tracks sent to me, just copied and burnt them and used a wav editor to make sure that the files all matched.

BigGameHunter
23-06-2003, 15:26:34
So you kept one disc and just burned the first and last songs on the other? Oh...hmmm....I included additional songs on the LWP because I must be some kind of 'waste not want not' Calvinist commie pinko at heart.
Guess you'll have to wait until LWP comes out to enjoy that disc!

Guy
23-06-2003, 17:33:54
Depends on how long my conscience holds out. ;)

The LWP disk has more stuff from the bands that did your two tracks, right? I appreciate that. One of the problems with LWP is that you're only getting one song to judge a band by in most cases, it's nice to have a broader selection to go by. Will listen to the other and post a review before too long.

I guess the deadline has been postponed.

:o i'll get cracking, pretty much knwo my songs just need to burn em and bring em round to you i think

unless i could e-mail them...but i don't knwo if you have a size limit on files you can receive or anything?

Funkodrom
07-07-2003, 10:34:45
Nope, should be fine, you can definitely e-mail them to me at home anyway.

I'll do my songs for Ric this evening, thus technically not breaking the deadline.

Oh, what happened to the CD you wanted me to give to protein? I was looking for it yesterday to give to him but it's vanished.

Mr. Bas

10-07-2003, 08:57:25
ok i have grabbed the tracks bas wanted me to, i just need to confirm with him they're ok

i have a couple of questions about the format of the fiels i give:

1) are we playing the guessing game thing, i.e do i need to mask the artist and song name somehow before i send to the compiler?

2) are we having any problems with song/compilation length at the moment? i am agonizing over some longer length tracks and don't want them to be ruined by cropping

3) do i need to mark which is my head track and which is my feet track?

apologies if these questions have already been answered, way too busy at work to spend time checking

Funkodrom

Yes.

3) do i need to mark which is my head track and which is my feet track?

Yes.

I guess Shakey's probably not sure about question 2 because he hasn't got enough tracks yet. :)

Sorry, I burnt them and then realised I was going away for a week to a place far from post boxes. I managed to scramble an envelope together and hurl it and some stampage out of a moving vehicle and into the letterbox whilst leaving a Cornish beach on Tuesday. Bit surprised it took all that long to get there, but apologies for being late anyway.
