Your PM box is full! Reply anyway...

You haven't got my e-mail yet but I'll bring some more round, they are band CDs anyway now we paid for them from selling our old ones.

Are you up for the Litten tree? Otherwise I'll see if anyone else wants to come with me.

If you both want to come it's 4 on the door, we could split one entrance fee between all three of us...

Do you mean Monarchy do you?

Anyway, I've never heard of any of those bands, are they supposed to be any good?

I have my grading coming up so I can't go tonight. I'll be in the back garden standing in horse stance over some burning jossticks with a pot of hot tea on my head and a crazy old drunk man will be hitting my legs with a bamboo flute and laughing.

No, I don't mean Monarchy. I just copied that from the gig guide on josaka. Sharabang are supposed to be quite good. The stuff on their website (http://www.sharabang.com/) is quite rock and apparently their new stuff is better. Never heard of Monic or The Noyse. Sequoia are the new band from that guy who was in the Beat Collective but this time he has some rock people in the band so maybe they'll be better, but I don't have high hopes.

Yeah, drop some off too.

I only had 6 PMs in my inbox. Is that the new limit?

Clear out your sent messages folder, the total is for all folders not just the inbox.

It's the horse stance business that scares me :nervous:

The Horse stance. I think it stems from when much of kung fu was about horseriding and shooting arrows. It works in unarmed fighting by lowering your centre of gravity and giving you a solid stance to fight from. It is also a very painful training aid for leg muscles and mind control. In my grading this week, one small part is to hold each stance - horse, laumau, dragon, turtle, cat, crane - for 2 minutes each. At the moment my legs shake and are searingly painful after one and a half minutes of the first stance. Nightmare.

What's the last one called? The "clever-dick showoff" stance?

I fail to see what advantage could be gained by adopting such a stance in a fight.

me either. I suspect the last one has his two mates holding his legs photoshopped out of the picture.

I guess if you dedicate your whole life to kung fu you are going to push your whole body to the limit. This guys fingers and arms will be so strong that if he struck you in the throat, eyes or chest he could fatally wound you.

None of the stances at their extreme (see turtle) would help you win a fight particularly but someone who trains regularly in these stances and transitionally through these stances will be strong and agile and have very good body awareness. They will also automatically go in to a semi-stance in a fight situation which will lower their centre of gravity and give an advantage.

I know a stance that would help you win a fight: standing with machine gun :)
