Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Loud Medicine are looking to collect original compositions for a CD showcasing Counterglow contributors musical output. We want tunes, old or new, that have been written by you. It doesnít matter what genre of music your work falls into, it doesnít matter how badly itís recorded, hell, it doesnít matter if it sounds awful as long as it was written by YOU (no covers) or you have the permission of the owner of the rights (old band member, for example)

Once the CD is compiled each contributor will receive a copy and the usual LWP style review/comment process will take place. On the CD, the contributor of each track will remain anonymous, but the track title will be revealed.

If youíd like to contribute this thread is the place to sign up. The deadline for entry is Wednesday the 28th of May, yes, thatís ONE WEEK. You donít actually have to submit anything by then, but you do have to let me know you are going to.

CONDITIONS
-Each contributor can submit no more than 2 pieces of music. (One solo, one band)
-Entries must be received by me (PM me for my address) in some kind of digital format. (CD, Mp3 etc)

Please post any queries in this thread, or alternatively PM me or mail me at Debaser@loudmedicine.net.

As will I, if I manage to get some decent recording software set up on my computer and have figured out how to work it in time... :nervous:

EDIT: x-post, as usual.

Can't in that short a time, I'm afraid. I've got some semi-worked embryos but nothing submittable.

The one week deadline is only to express an interest, you don't have to have anything finished by then.

How long do you think you'll need?

BigGameHunter
21-05-2003, 21:13:57
One month per note, I imagine.

Oh fuck it, I'm not in on this one. Leaving town in a week and probably won't get a functional music-making setup for months afterwards.

I imagine if this is successful there'll be a follow up. If not you'll be glad you didn't send anything

Funkodrom

We could send you the CD anyway (or you could download them if they are going on Loudmedicine)

Vincent

We could send the mp3s to your new email account (theoldwanker@loudmedicine.net)

Funkodrom

Excellent e-mail address. I'll register it with all the metal news e-mail spam bots I can find.

Can I submit a track from one or two of my early 90's bands as well? I just found my old cache of demo tapes...I'll have to get them to Bob...er...Vincent...er...whatever his name is. I'm also planning on doing at least one current number, provided I remember how to sing and play one of my guitars that is basically a closet ornament.

I'd say you can submit only one track from your band and one new track for the current project.
My recommendation is you send your other old tracks as well and they get published at the Loud Medicine Net site (after the project, otherwiser it would be some kind of band preview).
I'd like to have some more (old/new) stuff of posters on the LM site. I see it as some kind of CG music container

I don't know if it is really worth all that. I was just thinking of one good song from one banc (Herb's Buddhafield) and one from another (Act of God). I was in both about the same period, but they varied significantly. To go through the trouble of uploading all that nonsense from tapes would probably be a waste of your very important time.

Listen to the other (old) Loud Medicine stuff and make your choice ...

Vincent

And what important time? I even played Sim Golf

This making music stuff is turning out to be harder than I first anticipated.

Have you been using reason?

The Shaker

I tried reasoning with it, but in the end i've setled for misdirection and full frontal aggression.

Hmm... pretty lame response....

So far Vincent, BigGameHunter, Funkodrom, The Shaker (yeah right), Eklektikos, myself and (I think) Protein have all agreed to participate. If anyone else wants to, just sign up here, but personally I think that 7 people are enough to make it worthwhile so...

If you guys just reply here letting me know how long you think you'll need to get everything together, I'll start pm'ing my address to anyone that wants to send me stuff.

If you have any questions please join the orderly queue outside my office.

I think 7 is fine, if we have loads of space we could just allow people to submit more tracks.

Funkodrom
02-06-2003, 15:50:11
Are we going to try and finish the first Toki track for this?

Debaser
02-06-2003, 15:53:02
I think we should finish it before deciding. If it's really bad we should definately submit it (but under the name Scabrous Birdseed).

Funkodrom

Cool. :)

A month?

I need to do a non-guitar based track since I don't have an amp. I will be doing live drums I think. Hmm.

BigGameHunter
02-06-2003, 20:21:07
Uh...I've got to copy some old casettes-based tunes and send them to Vincent in order for them to get to you I think....unless he can send you an electronic copy once he's received the tape?!?

As for a new track, I probably need a month to sort that out as well...

Funkodrom
03-06-2003, 08:23:23
A month sounds good, that gives people time to sort out LWP5 in the meantime and Debaser and I can finish our tune.

I intend to submit but this time scale simply won't work for me so put me down as a possible if there is a lot of slippage or a definite for the next one.

BigGameHunter
03-06-2003, 14:39:25
Slippage or shrinkage?

Funkodrom
03-06-2003, 15:11:22
Right, I'll probably get shot for attempting to hijack this again but I just had a brilliant idea how this might work.

Once Vincent/Debaser have a few submissions they put one up on the Loud Medicine webspace (which Vincent said he was going to do anyway). Anyone who wants to can download said song and PM/e-mail a review in to the review compiler.

The reviewer puts it all together with comments from the creator.

Next week they put up the next track for review/comment.

At the end of the process (when we have a CD full?) anyone who wants the whole lot on CD can get it. That way it's a continuous process and people can keep submitting tracks even after we've started.

Debaser
03-06-2003, 15:15:05
Or we could do one a week (like Free Mp3 or Game), with anyone who feels like it that week reviewing the song and sending the reviews to someone who can collect them all together.

Funkodrom
03-06-2003, 15:19:50
Isn't that what I said? I think it's what I meant.

You can have a different compiler each week. Only thing to make sure of is that we keep whoever submitted the track a secret until people have done the reviews... if that's even necessary. Could even be done as a thread rather than an article.

Yup, what I said is exactly what you had said previously.
