Anyone seen this yet? Shakey and I went to see it on Monday.

Was a great film. Especially for X-men fans, they totally kept to the feel of the X-Men comics.

LOADS of different x-men make appearances, in suitably realistic ways. I spotted cameos from Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Siren, The Beast urgh... so many. Remy LeBeau got a mention.

Plus... the shadow under the lake at the end?

Much better than the last film anyway. Might go and see it again.

Somebody should make a new Swamp Thing film 'cos he was the daddy.

I saw Beast on one of the TV news clips in the movie, Colossus, Siren (ow!), missed the others.

I think that was a "light" under the lake at the end. :)

I think the Fantastic Four is ripe for moviedom.

Damn, batman has some serious ass muscles. That looks painful, actually.

A light coincidently in the shape of a phoenix? And didn't Jean Grey change into phoenix in times of great stress where she started pushing her powers to their limits?

I also like it a ton. Superhero movies need to have superheros abusing their powers every time they need to. Unlike some upcoming movies *cough*Matrix*cough*.

That's Gambit - You in X-Men from that test yesterday I think.

I also love pork (under all forms, pork chops, sausages, bacon, etc.), football, computer games, blow jobs and war movies. For the sake of coherence, abandon all liking you might have of them.

I liked most of the movie, but there were some bits that stretched on for a bit - thankfully my awesome mind has served to protect me by forgetting what those bits were...:p

7/10

This looks like a series that is going to run and run...

What I'm really looking for is to see Hellblazer with John Constantine made into a movie...:)

Where was the Beast and who is Kitty Pryde?
Colossus and Siren were obvious...don't know who the chick who could walk through walls was. Hmmm...

Venom
16-05-2003, 19:06:04
That was Kitty Pryde, walking through walls.

Beast isn't blue at all in the movie. He's on TV talking about Mutants with the subtitle under him Dr Hank McCoy.

OH...ok...hmmm...need to read that series again. I guess that's all the obvious ones then, eh?

A very good movie, made better by the presence of Anna Paquin.

I was dragged to this film by my girlfriend and have never read any Marvel stuff (I was more of a Victor, Warlord, Beano and Dandy kid myself) anyway so I suppose I was pretty unlikely to be that impressed by X-Men 2 (as I was non-plussed by the first one).

Anyway, what annoyed me most about the film was - at the end when that woman was holding back the water with her telekenisis (or whatever) where the hell was Iceman?? Why didnt he step in and freeze the water so they could ALL get away - I was waiting for AGES for that to happen (as soon as they all realised the dam was cracking he should have been in action) - but no! Not a peep out of him. Was I missing something? I did fall asleep in the first half of the film and was pissing about with my new mobile for most the second half, so some crucial plot twist may have escaped me.

The best thing about seeing the film was it reminded me of a spoof X-Men film called "Mystery Men" - and I found it today in Morrisons for 3 quid - top film but think it went straight to video - here's a link -

That got a cinema release, great film and IMO even better if you like comics 'cause there are some in jokes in there.

Mutant power vary in intensity and effectiveness (which the movie is not too good at showing). The ice guy you refer to is just a teenager, he can create an ice wall, not freeze millions of hectoliters of flowing waters in a split second, over a distance of two klics.

I was happily surprised by the movie, which I saw last sunday. Nightcrawler was particularly good And the shadow of the Phoenix points the way to episode III...

I guess I'm just not into comics enough to really enjoy this one - I'm surprised to hear so many Brits like them - cant even remember seeing them on sale over here. Ah well - each to their own :)

Maybe you don't go to many comic shops. :D

Why don't supermarkets in britain sell comics?

Funkodrom
28-05-2003, 11:14:14
Depends on the supermarket. Some definitely do. Although if they do they'll only sell the UK editions of US comics. You have to go to comic shops to get the proper imported ones.

BigGameHunter

With the Marvel ones it's a UK letters page and barcode on the bottom right of the front cover instead of the little black and white pictures you get on the import ones.

One of my good friends has the ultimate job--he works for Dark Horse Comics, and his job description seems to be limited to travelling the country to comic/sci-fi conventions and getting drunk and disorderly on the company dole.

Which pantheon of gods did I piss off to end up in an autobody shop?!?

Saw this last night, thought it was excellent. Many good scenes, the only thing that irked me slightly was the fact that the makers decided they were going to have to spell out what was happening several times so that the thickies would understand it.

Funkodrom
30-05-2003, 09:27:58
Yeah, that was annoying but I thought that was for the little kids.

BigGameHunter

I'm sure the little kids really enjoyed seeing Wolverine eviscerate people!
I just can't believe some of the movies I've seen people bring their children to. They should be publicly flogged and put in stockades.
